The People’s School Program Breaks the Chain of Poverty

Garut – The central government under President Prabowo Subianto continues to affirm its commitment to providing inclusive and quality education through the People’s School program, which is intended for children from low-income families. This program is believed to be a strategic path to breaking the cycle of poverty that has shackled the community.

The Regent of Garut, West Java, Abdusy Syakur Amin, welcomed the program. He viewed the People’s School as a significant opportunity for his region to free its people from the cycle of poverty. “This is an excellent opportunity to help reduce poverty in Garut. Until now, poverty indicators have always been related to limited access to education, health care, and the economy. With the People’s School, children can receive a decent education and a brighter future,” he said optimistically.

He hopes Garut’s younger generation will make the most of this opportunity. “I am very enthusiastic about promoting the establishment of a People’s School in Garut. This is a concrete way to ensure that underprivileged children can achieve a bright future,” he added.

West Sulawesi Governor Suhardi Duka (SDK) also expressed his full support. He believes this program is not just an educational institution, but an ecosystem designed to develop children holistically. “People’s Schools are a systematic way to alleviate poverty in the region. This program includes health checks, talent mapping, the provision of adequate dormitories, complete uniforms, three nutritious meals a day, laptop-based digital learning, and discipline development,” he emphasized.

According to SDK, the presence of the People’s School ensures that the younger generation receives education, nutrition, health care, and character development. “This way, we are not only helping today, but also breaking the cycle of poverty for the next generation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Husni, a member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR), views the People’s School as a strategic instrument in developing Indonesia’s golden generation towards 2045. “The chain of poverty will be broken automatically. These children will have free schooling, free housing, and free knowledge. God willing, they will become a golden generation who will one day support their families and lead this nation to greater progress,” he said.

With the full support of local governments, legislatures, and the community, People’s Schools are projected to be a real breakthrough in improving the quality of human resources from an early age.
