The Red and White Cooperative is a tangible demonstration of President Prabowo’s commitment to creating jobs in rural areas.

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto’s administration continues to strengthen its commitment to creating jobs and investment at the village level through the development of the Red and White Cooperative (KMP) and the acceleration of equitable distribution of basic infrastructure such as electricity and internet access. This program demonstrates the government’s commitment to the people’s economy and village independence.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Faction, Andre Rosiade, assessed that the presence of the Merah Putih Cooperative is a strategic step by the government to strengthen the economic independence of village communities.

“There’s no need to worry about the Merah Putih Cooperative. The government is preparing a formula so that existing MSMEs, community shops, and the entire village economic ecosystem can synergize, not compete. Everything is geared towards building the people’s economy together,” said Andre.

Andre explained that cooperatives are a crucial instrument for channeling village economic activity back into the communities themselves. According to KDKMP data, as of November 2025, 82,467 legally registered cooperatives had been established, with over 25,000 active outlets across Indonesia, and 1.19 million villagers had become active members.

According to him, the acceleration of the formation of the Red and White Cooperative cannot be separated from President Prabowo’s seriousness in placing strengthening the people’s economy as a national priority.

“We want cooperatives to be the backbone of the village economy, where people can participate, gain mutual benefits, and grow in the spirit of mutual cooperation that is typical of Indonesia,” Andre emphasized.

In addition to strengthening the people’s economy, the government is also preparing concrete steps to ensure all villages have access to electricity and the internet. Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating the village electrification program.

“We’ve discussed it in a cabinet meeting. God willing, during President Prabowo’s term, there will be no more villages without electricity,” he said.

He added that the government is also expanding the village internet network in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital.

“We’ve signed an MoU with Komdigi to ensure internet signal and network access to villages. Priority will be given to tourism, export-oriented villages, and those with significant economic potential,” Yandri explained.

With cross-ministerial synergy, the Red and White Cooperative, and village electrification projects, the government is ensuring economic growth from the ground up—from strong, independent, and prosperous villages.***
