Toll Discounts Implemented, Making Travel Ahead of Christmas and New Year More Affordable

Jakarta – Ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays, the public has received good news with the implementation of a toll tariff discount program on several major toll roads. This policy is expected to ease the burden of travel costs for people planning to return home for Eid, vacation, or travel between cities for family and work.
This toll tariff discount program is generally implemented during the period of December 22, 23, and 31, so that toll road users are encouraged to arrange their travel time more flexibly. This policy not only makes travel more affordable but also helps reduce traffic congestion on peak days.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized that this stimulus package is a Presidential directive to maintain affordable mobility and stimulate economic activity towards the end of the year.
“Public mobility is a very important component and plays a major role in driving economic growth, so it needs to be optimized during the 2025/2026 Nataru holiday period by providing more affordable transportation services,” he said in Jakarta.
Similarly, Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, explained that the government and Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) emphasized that this discount program continues to prioritize service and safety aspects. Coordination with the police and transportation agencies is also being intensified to regulate traffic management in the event of congestion.
“This toll discount program is designed to prioritize service and safety. We have prepared rest area facilities, field officers, and traffic information, and we continue to strengthen coordination with the police and transportation agencies to anticipate congestion,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jasa Marga President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, said the public is encouraged to utilize cashless toll payments and ensure sufficient electronic money card balances before entering toll gates. This is important to avoid long queues at entry and exit gates, while also supporting the smooth flow of vehicles.
“Users are expected to regularly monitor the latest information regarding tariff discounts, implementation schedules, and traffic conditions through the toll management application or official channels. This is important to avoid long queues at entry and exit gates,” he explained.
The toll discount policy is seen as an effort to stimulate economic growth in the regions. With more affordable travel, the potential for tourist visits to various destinations is predicted to increase, thus having a positive impact on local businesses such as hotels, restaurants, MSMEs, and other service sectors.
With the toll discount, it is hoped that people will plan their Christmas and New Year trips more carefully: choosing the right departure time, maintaining their vehicles, and prioritizing road safety. Travel will be more economical, but safety and comfort remain top priorities.
