The move of the Indonesian capital to the Archipelago Capital ( IKN ) is not only to physically move the center of government but also to build a smart city.
It is noted that only 25% of the archipelago area will be developed, while the remaining 75% will be green area, including 65% of the area remaining as tropical forest. Meanwhile, the smart city concept will make IKN a healthy, efficient, productive city, friendly for pedestrians and bicycle users, as well as providing security, health and education services that can become a center for global innovation.
The Director General of Public Information and Communication, represented by the Director of Economic and Maritime Information and Communication, Ministry of Communication and Information, Septriana Tangkary, said that the construction of IKN shows the greatness of the Indonesian nation, reflects national identity, guarantees social, economic and environmental sustainability, creates a forest city, smart city, city modern, sustainable, and has international standards
Therefore, it is hoped that IKN Nusantara can become a city that prioritizes social and modern inclusion while still paying attention to environmental sustainability and sustainability. Septriana also emphasized that all parties play a full role in developing IKN, including the Ministry of Communication and Information which plays an active role in digital infrastructure by developing an Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) and also in providing a National Data Center (PDN).
Deputy for Socio-Cultural and Community Empowerment at the IKN Authority, Alimuddin, added that future IKN owners will be the younger generation. For this reason, the government’s current task is to lay the initial foundation for IKN development. IKN development is not only in the form of infrastructure and economic development, but also sustainable cultural, environmental and educational development.
It is hoped that IKN can become a city that prioritizes social inclusion and modernity, while still paying attention to environmental sustainability and sustainability.
Head of the East Kalimantan Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Rozali Indra Saputra, said Smart Forest City was the theme chosen for IKN. The smart element is based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), while the forest element is about maintaining and creating ecology. IKN will be the only national capital in the world that carries forest elements.
Development will be carried out in stages until 2045 using the Future Smart Forest City concept which still pays attention to environmental aspects. In the early stages of 2022-2024, the PUPR Ministry will start work on the Central Government Core Area (KIPP). The area is divided into 3 clusters, namely core government, education government and health government.
The smart city concept that will be implemented will make IKN a healthy, efficient, productive city, friendly for pedestrians and bicycle users, as well as providing security, health and education services that can become a center for global innovation.
The Chancellor of Balikpapan University, Isradi Zainal, said that the vision of IKN development is to make IKN a ‘World City for All’. To become a sustainable city in the world, then driving Indonesia’s economy in the future and also as a symbol of national identity. This is narrated by content creators who continue to talk about the progress of IKN development on social media channels.
One of the content creators, Dian Rana, told how he documented the tourism and culinary delights of the archipelago, an interesting new destination there. Support from content creators and influencers is very important for the existence of IKN so that all parties understand the truth story about IKN. This support can be realized through social media such as Instagram, TikTok, and also in the form of animation.
The development of the smart city concept is also carried out in the IKN development project. One of the points in developing the smart city concept is the use of clean energy. PGN President Director Arief Setiawan Handoko said that his party encourages the use of clean energy by the community by providing natural gas, where natural gas is one of the energies with low carbon emissions.
Natural gas distribution is carried out through pipeline and non-pipeline infrastructure (beyond pipeline). This is to support the development of Smart City, namely providing Smart Energy, Smart Solutions and Smart Infrastructure. Natural gas has been used as vehicle fuel which is considered cleaner. The use of gas fuel (BBG) in transportation modes is recorded to provide cost savings of up to 33%. Meanwhile, the use of natural gas through piped gas networks can result in cost savings of up to 27-28% for household, commercial and industrial customers. Furthermore, the use of natural gas beyond pipeline is also recorded to provide cost savings of up to 18%.
Through support for the development of Smart City, of course the capital city of the archipelago with the Smart City concept is not only about technology and networks, but also optimizing the use of clean energy so that it can help answer urban problems and create a sustainable Smart City through Smart Energy.
