Transition of President Jokowi’s Government to Prabowo-Gibran: Strategic Momentum for Indonesia’s Development

JAKARTA – The transition of government in Indonesia is always a moment full of challenges and hopes. However, the transfer of power from President Joko Widodo to President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka is predicted to run more smoothly. This was conveyed by various groups, including academics, political observers, and industry players, who believe that the new cabinet can bring significant changes to Indonesia.

Burhanuddin Abdullah, an academic and former Governor of Bank Indonesia, emphasized the importance of strategic policies that will be implemented by Prabowo and Gibran. According to him, this policy covers several important sectors, including increasing cooperation between the government and the private sector. Abdullah stated,

“This is expected to be able to overcome various problems currently faced by Indonesia, such as dependence on food, energy, and manufacturing imports, as well as human resource (HR) problems, including low IQ in the community and stunting problems,” said Burhanuddin Abdullah.

Burhanuddin Abdullah underlined the importance of the private sector’s role in supporting government policies. In facing increasingly complex global economic challenges, this cooperation is considered crucial to encourage economic independence and increase Indonesia’s competitiveness.

Meanwhile, Igor Dirgantara, Executive Director of Survey and Polling Indonesia, assessed this government transition as the smoothest in Indonesian history without any major political turmoil. He said,

“Political stability is maintained because the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet will be filled with many professionals, around 40%, which is in line with the vision of the Zaken cabinet. With a strong and experienced background, it is hoped that these professionals can help the new government in formulating and implementing pro-people policies,” said Igor Dirgantara.

Enggartiasto Lukita, Executive Chairman of B-Universe, also gave his views on this leadership transition. He appreciated that the transition of government from President Jokowi to President-elect Prabowo went smoothly and was full of friendship.

“This is a positive signal for both domestic and international markets, this condition can create a better investment climate and encourage sustainable economic growth,” concluded Enggartiasto Lukita.

Enggartiasto Lukita further expressed his hope that this national leadership transition would be a strategic and historical momentum. He hopes that this moment is not just a transfer of power, but can also encourage development and economic growth in the future.

“We need to take advantage of this momentum to strengthen the foundation of the economy and improve people’s welfare,” continued Enggartiasto Lukita.

In an increasingly competitive global context, the new government is expected to be able to formulate concrete steps to improve Indonesia’s competitiveness. Focusing on human resource development, infrastructure improvement, and innovation and technology is very important. In addition, efforts to improve international cooperation also need to be strengthened so that Indonesia can play a more active role in the global arena.

“We all hope that the new government can bring positive changes and make Indonesia better in the future,” concluded Burhanudin Abdullah.

The Prabowo-Gibran government transition provides new hope for the Indonesian people. With strong support from various elements of society, including the private sector and professionals, it is hoped that the policies taken can answer existing challenges and realize the ideals of sustainable development.
