Manokwari – A Spiritual Revival and Divine Healing Service (KKR) led by Rev. Markus Nome took place in a lively and solemn manner at the Bara Api Penuai Amban Education Center Parking Lot in Manokwari on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The event, themed “My Jesus is Extraordinary,” was attended by approximately 1,000 congregants from various classes in Manokwari Regency and West Papua.
The service atmosphere was lively from early morning. Congregants from various regions attended enthusiastically, demonstrating the strong sense of togetherness in celebrating this spiritual moment. In addition to the worship service and prayers, the event also included praise, spiritual music, and communal prayer, fostering a sense of family and brotherhood.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan, who also inaugurated the three-day KKR, from September 9 to 11, 2025. In his remarks, Dominggus emphasized the importance of maintaining the values of tolerance and togetherness in a diverse society.
“We are confident and believe that this KKR activity will take place peacefully and joyfully. Therefore, I urge all congregations and communities in West Papua Province to maintain tolerance, harmony, togetherness, unity, and oneness. In this way, we will live in harmony and peace in the blessed land of Indonesia,” he said.
Dominggus also emphasized that Papua is a shared home that must be protected.
“Indonesia, Papua, West Papua, and Manokwari are our homes, and we must maintain them in harmony. We hope this momentum will strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and spiritual values in community life,” he added.
This KKR event is a significant event not only for Christians but also for the wider community, reminding us of the importance of interfaith tolerance. The presence of thousands of congregants from diverse backgrounds demonstrates a sense of togetherness that is a key component in maintaining social harmony in West Papua.
The head of the organizing committee explained that the event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of various parties and the support of the local government. The committee also worked closely with the police, village and sub-district governments, and sub-district officials to ensure the event ran smoothly, safely, and orderly.
“This synergy is proof that harmony can be achieved through real cooperation across parties,” he explained.
By holding the KKR in Manokwari, it is hoped that a peaceful atmosphere full of brotherhood will be created and the spirit of maintaining tolerance in the Papua region will be reflected.
