Jakarta – The World Bank expressed its appreciation for the various programs of the Indonesian government, under the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Jokowi is considered capable of stabilizing the national economy amidst various global challenges today.
This was stated by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. According to Airlangga, the World Bank appreciates various government programs such as poverty reduction and agriculture programs.
“Among other things, poverty reduction and also programs related to infrastructure for agriculture, including irrigation, which the World Bank delegation from Lombok saw earlier and saw how farmers’ incomes increased and irrigation was running well, then the results of agriculture also boosted the exchange rate for farmers,” said Airlangga.
In addition, the World Bank also appreciates the stunting reduction program carried out by the Indonesian government through the early childhood program.
President Jokowi said that there had been a decrease in the stunting rate in Indonesia from 37 percent to 21 percent, a decrease in the extreme poverty rate from 6.2 percent to 0.8 percent.
“Well, related to the program, the President also talked about the village fund program where village funds amounting to IDR 71 trillion are used for various activities in rural areas, including reducing stunting,” said Airlangga.
President Jokowi, Airlangga continued, emphasized the importance of food resilience and green energy for Indonesia’s future. According to the President, Indonesia has programs related to clean energy, including hydro solar geothermal.
For your information, inflation in Indonesia has been successfully controlled at around 2-3 percent, while many other countries have experienced inflation spikes of more than 200 percent.
