Jakarta – President Joko Widodo’s leadership has received quite high appreciation both from within the country and abroad.
In the Jokowi era, Indonesia’s strength of cooperation and diplomacy was proven to receive a positive response and was even taken into account by world countries. One of them was when the United Nations (UN) appreciated Indonesia’s leadership in formulating a joint declaration and commitment to address water and sanitation issues at the 10th World Water Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali, on 18-25 May 2024.
UN Deputy Secretary General, Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, said that the UN expressed its appreciation for the leadership shown by President Jokowi in holding an important forum to overcome the global crisis.
“On behalf of the UN, I would like to express my appreciation for the leadership shown by the Indonesian Government in holding this important forum,” said Armida.
Not only in the economic sector, but Indonesia, under the leadership of President Jokowi, has also received praise for its efforts to achieve world peace. The delegation from the Bureau of the Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) or the UN Palestine Committee expressed its appreciation for Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle.
President Jokowi even received the highest award from the Palestinian Government, namely the “Grand Collar Order of the State of Palestine”, which was handed over by the Special Envoy of the President of Palestine, Riyad Al Maliki, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
This award was given as a form of recognition for Indonesia’s consistent support for the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence.
Riyad Al Maliki, Special Advisor to the President of Palestine, also revealed that the award was given as a form of respect for President Jokowi’s efforts.
“This award is given as a form of respect for President Jokowi’s efforts in strengthening relations between Indonesia and Palestine and in supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom and independence,” he said.
“Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi revealed that the Special Envoy conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas’s very high appreciation to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for Indonesia’s consistent position in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people,” said Retno.
Previously, Foreign Minister Retno also said that in her various duties accompanying President Jokowi to various countries, world leaders expressed appreciation for Jokowi in his efforts for world peace.
“Secondly, in the midst of a world situation filled with rivalry and containment efforts, Indonesia is actually strengthening ties of friendship and concrete cooperation with world countries,” said Retno.
President Jokowi continues to strive to create peace and conduciveness. Domestically, the efforts of the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia were recognized by a number of parties, especially ahead of the transition to the new government.
Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin said that a peaceful and inclusive government transition process could create political stability and support the success of government programs.
“The next task is to embrace all parties to remain united in building the Indonesian nation and ensuring that the government transition process is peaceful and inclusive,” said the Vice President.
The Vice President also stated that during the remainder of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin administration, the government will continue to ensure that infrastructure, education, health and economic development programs continue so that the benefits can be felt by all levels of society.
Previously, President Jokowi reminded him of the importance of ensuring a smooth transition of government going forward, in order to maintain national political stability and create a good image internationally. []
