Nusa Dua, Bali – The 10th World Water Forum (WWF) held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) succeeded in preparing a communiqué as a form of joint parliamentary efforts to overcome the water crisis.
“We have confirmed our commitments to improve the allocation of resources and a proportional budget for clean water,” said the Chair of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani.
Puan also emphasized the importance of breakthroughs in water security for the prosperity of the world community. He said that important points for recommendations had been successfully discussed in line with the 10th WWF theme at the parliamentary meeting.
The theme is Mobilizing Parliamentary Action on Water for Shared Prosperity, which means water for the welfare of all humans without exception.
“Together we agree to make water issues a priority agenda for parliaments in our respective countries and also at the global level,” said Puan.
Puan invited all related parties to work together to strengthen their commitment to providing clean water regardless of social, religious and economic status.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Muhammad Tito Karnavian, said that countries in the world need to reaffirm their commitment to water security.
“I am confident that we all have the same commitment and support to achieve water security in facing current and future challenges. “Intergovernmental collaboration is very important to mainstream Integrated Water Resources Management at all levels,” said the Minister of Home Affairs while chairing a ministerial level meeting forum.
Tito emphasized that access to clean and safe drinking water is not just a human right (HAM), but is the foundation of people’s health, dignity and welfare.
“Let’s reaffirm our commitment to making clean drinking water accessible to everyone, through innovation and collaboration,” he stressed.
Previously, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) explained that the largest water forum in the world must be a momentum for countries in the world to revitalize real action and joint commitment by sharing knowledge, encouraging innovative solutions, and realizing integrated water resource management.
“This is to strengthen commitment and formulate real actions related to inclusive and sustainable water management,” said Jokowi.
This was said by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, because water plays an important and central role in human life. In fact, it is so important that water is called the next oil in the future.
For this reason, Indonesia has adopted four new initiatives, namely the establishment of World Lake Day, the establishment of a Center of Excellence in the Asia Pacific Region for water and climate security, sustainable water management in small island countries, and the promotion of water projects to ensure commitment our politics into real action.
“Water is not just a natural product, but a product of collaboration that connects and unites us. “Preserving water is our collective responsibility,” concluded President Jokowi.
