Jakarta – The government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), continues to strengthen its outreach efforts to protect the public from the social, economic, and psychological impacts it can cause.
As is known, online gambling is not only a violation of the law but also a real threat to the nation’s future.
Komdigi’s Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, emphasized that online gambling has destroyed many families in Indonesia.
“We all know that online gambling has destroyed many families. We see children losing their futures, parents losing their assets, and even families collapsing,” he said.
Alexander added that as of mid-September 2025, Komdigi had taken action against more than 2.8 million pieces of negative content, 2.1 million of which were gambling content.
“This figure shows the massive threat we face in the digital space,” he emphasized.
To strengthen the eradication of online gambling, Komdigi is preparing an Analysis and Monitoring System (SAMAN) that will be fully operational by October 2025.
“With input from digital platform operators and internal evaluations, we hope this system will run smoothly, close existing loopholes, and the SAMAN system will be fully operational next month,” said Alexander.
The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Komdigi urged the public to immediately report findings of online gambling content to quickly create a healthy and positive digital space.
Separately, the Rector of ‘Aisyiyah University (Unisa) Yogyakarta, Warsiti, assessed that the rise of online gambling can cause financial and psychological harm.
“Judol has become a threat, not just financial. This phenomenon causes psychological harm, social impacts, and damages the future of the younger generation. It’s sad that cases of judol have now spread to illegal online lending platforms,” she said.
Warsiti hopes that the younger generation will become agents of change who can prevent the spread of online gambling in society.
