Message from Scholars to the Nation: Appreciation for President Jokowi’s Performance and Realizing the Prabowo-Gibran Program

Jakarta — After 10 years of leading Indonesia, President Joko Widodo leaves behind various legacies that deserve appreciation, having achieved many significant accomplishments both nationally and internationally. Now shifting to the transition of government towards the elected President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, where this process is expected to proceed smoothly, while ensuring that the flagship programs that have been implemented continue.

The Secretary General of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Abdul Mu’ti, expressed gratitude and appreciation to President Jokowi for his contributions over the past decade.

“We express our appreciation for the performance he has delivered during his 10 years leading Indonesia and the cooperation that has been established between President Jokowi and Muhammadiyah in various fields,” he said.

Prof. Mu’ti also highlighted four main achievements of Jokowi’s administration. First, the massive infrastructure development that has aided economic growth and connected various isolated regions. Second, economic stability marked by a decrease in unemployment rates and the creation of more job opportunities.

Third, President Jokowi has successfully created an open democratic atmosphere where the public can speak freely. Fourth, Indonesia’s important role on the international stage under Jokowi’s leadership, such as the G20 Presidency, leadership in ASEAN, and the Palestine-Israel conflict.

In addition to appreciation, Prof. Mu’ti invites all elements of society to oversee the transition of government peacefully and orderly.

“The democratic process must proceed as planned. The regional elections should take place in a quality manner, which can be measured by fair administration, candidates presenting substantial ideas, and quality outcomes,” he explained.

He also emphasized the importance of accepting the election results as part of maturity in democracy.

“The election of Prabowo and Gibran is not just a victory for them, but also a victory for the Indonesian nation,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH. Marsudi Syuhud, also expressed appreciation for the achievements in development that have been accomplished by the Jokowi administration.

“Everyone can see, a lot of infrastructure has been built, and all the needs that are very much required today have been established,” said KH. Marsudi.

He emphasized that this achievement must be continued by the Prabowo-Gibran administration.

“We hope that what President Jokowi has done will continue. We must not let anything be interrupted, because if it is interrupted, there will be something left idle and less beneficial,” he explained.

According to KH. Marsudi, maintaining the continuity of infrastructure development and the welfare of the nation is very important for a better future for Indonesia.

KH. Marsudi also highlighted the importance of unity and harmony in maintaining the stability of the country during the transition process.

“Being a nation and a state means following the rules. If the rules are upheld and implemented well, the Indonesian nation will be able to remain orderly and harmonious,” he emphasized.

He added that the values of brotherhood among religions, individuals, and nations must be upheld, especially during times of political transition.

“Let it not be that just because of politics every five years, our brotherhood can break and change. The most important thing is that we can all support each other even if we are different,” he added.

In the context of the government transition, both Prof. Abdul Mu’ti and KH. Marsudi agree that the public must provide full support to the new government.

“Let us give the new government a chance to lead the administration of the state,” said Prof. Mu’ti.

The party emphasized that the election of Prabowo-Gibran should be trusted to work according to the grand plans that have been laid out.

KH. Marsudi is also confident that Prabowo-Gibran will be able to continue the various initiatives that have been started by President Jokowi.

“I am confident that the upcoming government will be able to continue the various steps taken by previous presidents, and will carry them on according to the grand plans. Everything must be interconnected,” he said.

The success of the transition is not only important for political and economic stability but also for the continuation of development programs that have been designed for Indonesia’s future.
