President Jokowi immediately carried out an inspection at the Tanjung Priok Port to check whether there were illegal levies there. He immediately called the National Police Chief and assigned him to deal with it. The President’s actions are highly appreciated by the people, because they certainly do not want to be subject to extortion which is very burdensome.

Extortion is an annoying thing because it is not an official tariff, and is usually collected in public places such as terminals or ports. This action is included in KKN because it is not an official attraction, and the community strongly objected because it was ‘knocked’ by unscrupulous elements and thugs. Even though they complain in their hearts, they still pay for fear that the vehicle may not pass there .

President Jokowi received complaints from the public via social media about extortion that occurred at Tanjung Priok Port, and he immediately went there to inspect it. It turned out that the drivers justified it, because when there was a traffic jam, the thugs even grabbed it . When they are loading and unloading they are also subject to extortion.

The drivers represented by Agung Kurniawan also told President Jokowi that levies were also taken at the Dwipa Depot, Fortune Depot, and NPCT 1. Unfortunately, when there was a traffic jam, their belongings were accidentally stolen by organized gangs of thugs. on the hood of the car. This action certainly cannot be justified because thuggery is very detrimental.

After hearing the drivers’ statements, President Jokowi immediately called the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and ordered them to eradicate thuggery. General Sigit immediately responded to the President’s order and he promised to rid the port area of thuggery.

General Sigit and his men not only went directly to Tanjung Priok Port, but also to various regions in the country. Many people are relieved because they don’t have to be afraid of extortion.

Meanwhile, the people were immediately happy because the President was quick to respond and fulfilled his promise to protect the people, because their safety is number 1. Thugs are certainly a very dangerous act because it can threaten lives.

If thuggery is allowed to continue for years, it will be the drivers who will suffer because their luggage is looted, even though it is not necessarily their property, so they must compensate. In addition, extortion at the port is certainly burdensome because the tariff is much higher than the official tariff.

The public really appreciates President Jokowi, who immediately moves to the port to check whether there is really thuggery, which means that he pays attention and reads various public complaints on social media, even though his working hours are very busy. This shows that the President is willing to listen to the voices of the people and pay attention to their problems.

The president who wants to go directly to the field is an example of a true leader, because it’s not just ABS, aka ‘as long as you’re happy’ (like the New Order era). However, President Jokowi checked into the port and after finding witnesses and evidence, quickly instructed the national police chief to tackle the problem of thuggery.

Blusukan to the community is indeed one of the characteristics of President Jokowi, because he wants to see firsthand how their lives are. Has it been running smoothly or has it been hampered by several things, such as thuggery? By overcoming these problems, people can work smoothly and are no longer constrained by various annoying things.

Illegal levies at ports have been going on for decades, and this is a negative link that President Jokowi is trying to break. Likewise with thuggery that has existed since the Dutch colonial era. Both of them cannot be left alone because they will harm the people, so that when they are eradicated, the people greatly appreciate the agility of the President when dealing with them.
