TNI members who had just finished the Fajr prayer again became victims of the atrocities of the Free Papua Organization ( OPM ) . The public also condemned the brutality of the OPM and supported the TNI / Polri in eradicating the separatist group.

TNI members from Yonif R 400 / BR were involved in a gun battle with an armed criminal group (KKB) in Intan Jaya Papua. The incident that occurred on Friday, January 22, 2021, killed 2 TNI soldiers.

The two TNI soldiers who died included Pratu Dedi Hamdani and Pratu Roy Vebrianto.

The KKB that was the mastermind behind the attack on the TNI soldiers is thought to be a group led by Sabinus Waker.

The attack occurred at around 07.00 WIT, the criminal group fired bullets at the TNI post, Sugapa District from an altitude location.

As a result of the attack that took place that morning, Pratu Roy Vebrianto died after being shot in the right chest. Furthermore, the body of Pratu Roy Vebrianto was evacuated by helicopter to Mimika.

Gunfire was inevitable because other TNI soldiers were forced to retaliate against the KKB attack.

After the first incident, other TNI members were deployed to pursue the perpetrators of the shooting. But unfortunately, the unfortunate fate had to be experienced by Pratu Dedi Hamdani who was shot.

Dedi died after his body was hit by a KKB gun which carried out an attack blindly from a height.

It is known that cases of armed contact between the security forces and the KKB have occurred repeatedly. Previously, the KKB also made a riot on January 6, 2021, so the KKB burned PT MAF aircraft in Pagamba village, Mbiandoga District.

Furthermore, on January 10, 2021, there was a gun battle between Battalion 400 and KKB in Titigi Village. During the incident, TNI member Prada Agus Kurniawan died after being shot in the back.

In 2019 KKB carried out an attack by a team of TNI personnel from a distance of about 100 meters with a hit and run system. The attack took place on Wednesday 24 April 2019. In the courtyard of the Nirkuri District office.

At that time, Helly with serial number HA-5179 belonging to the TNI AD flight attendant was landing in order to deliver foodstuffs (Bamak) for the routine needs of TNI troops who were carrying out the security of Trans Papua.

During the loading and unloading of the bamak at 10:45 WIT which was carried out by a team of 10 soldiers who were going to pick up the bamak, suddenly the team was attacked by the Armed Separatist Criminal group identified from the Egianus Kogoya group.

The attack resulted in 2 TNI Soldiers becoming victims, both of whom suffered gunshot wounds, on behalf of Serda Dedy being hit by a projectile on the back and Prada M. Hoirul Zahman Zahri suffered a gunshot wound to the left calf.

The incident received a response from the Presidential Chief of Staff, Moledoko, who highlighted the name and status of the Papuan armed criminal group (KKB) crackdown. Moeldoko did not want the name of the criminal group to make the KKB in Papua equal the status of the criminal groups in the Tanah Abang area, Jakarta.

Moeldoko also wanted the Papuan KKB to be called a separatist group. Thus, the status of suppression can be increased and no longer limits TNI soldiers in the field.

The act of attack that has been carried out by the KKB is certainly a serious threat to the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia and the progress of the development program in Papua which is being promoted by the government.

On April 9, 2020, a joint TNI / Polri team arrested 3 KKB members at a hideout in Kampung Jayanti, Iwaka District, Mimika Regency. Three people were arrested, namely Tandi Kogoya, Manu Kogoya and Ivan Sambom. The evidence confiscated included ammunition, crossbows, homemade firearms and sharp weapons of the type of machete.

The day after that, the joint team again arrested one KKB member on Mount Botak, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency. One KKB member named Menderita Walia along with evidence of a SS1V11 firearm, a magazine and 17 rounds of ammunition.

It seems that groups like the KKB feel unhappy when the central government provides assistance and attention to the people in Papua.

KKB has made a trail as a separatist group that often disturbs peace, order and security in Papua. Of course this group should be eradicated, lest the NKRI be undermined by groups that want to separate Papua from Indonesia.
