Two Political Parties which are currently undergoing leadership disputes, Golkar and PPP can finally “breathe” after the General Election Commission (KPU) published the revision of KPU Regulations (PKPU) regarding nomination that accommodate both parties to participate in the simultaneous regional head election later this year. Revision of this regulation is the maximum effort that KPU could made in order to find solutions for the consecuences of dual management issue that initially could prevent both parties to take apart in the election.

“Yes we have revised the rules, it can be seen now on the KPU’s website” said KPU Commissioner, Ferry Kurnia Rizkiansyah, on Thursday (07/23/2015) in Jakarta, as quoted by Okezone.com.

In the revised PKPU Number 12 of 2015 on the Amendment of PKPU Number 9 of 2015 on the basis of registration of a candidate’s candidacy, it is mentioned that the stewardship of conflicted parties are required to register only ane candidate in each region.

“So both parties must submit only one name,” said Ferry.

Ferry added, after the issuance of the regulation, it is expected that the further conflict of two parties which until today are still not reconciled thoroughly can be avoided. In addition, this rule is also as a legal basis for PPP and Golkar if they were sued by opponents in the election process.

As is known to all, the middle ground solution for both two sides of the conlficted parties to nominate only one candidate appears in a consultation meeting between the Government and Parliament. It was then discussed again at a meeting between the Government, Political Parties, and KPU facilitated by Vice President Jusuf Kalla on July 13, 2015.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo ordered KPU to find solutions to the parties that are having dualism stewardship problems. Thus, it is expected that the implementation of the elections conducted simultaneously on 9 December 2015 across 9 provinces, 269 districts, and 36 cities in the country runs well and smoothly.
