The Indonesian government guarantees cyber security during the G20 Summit by cooperating with a number of related agencies such as BIN, TNI and Polri. Cyber threats are very likely to occur to disrupt the smoothness of the international agenda.

The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) stated that they had started a series of cyber security efforts since July 2022 ahead of the peak of the G20 Summit which will be held in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.

The BSSN identified various potential cyber threats that occurred in Indonesia and the G20 Summit. These threats include spear phishing (specific hacks), malicious documents or viruses embedded in documents, hijacking, fake wifi and malware operations. BSSN also monitors the potential threat of data theft from before the summit until the end of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency.

BSSN Spokesman Ariandi Putra said the cyber security process is very important for the smooth running of the G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali, next November. BSSN has collaborated with stakeholders in an effort to maximize the smoothness of cyber security.

“The coordination that we are doing with several relevant stakeholders sees this as several important elements, that the G20 Summit performance must pay attention to cyber security,” said Ariandi.

According to Ariandi, the cyber security process by BSSN is not only carried out during the G20 Summit, but also continues to be monitored until after the activity so that it becomes sustainable. Ariandi also reminded that the cyber security escort process will always require cooperation with many parties.

“Cyber security will continue to be carried out in a sustainable manner. We need the cooperation of all parties, hand in hand between BSSN and inter-ministerial institutions. We are trying to make this show run smoothly and well, before, during, and after the implementation,” said Ariandi.
Previously, the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa also said that in order to facilitate the G20 Summit, the TNI collaborated with several parties to maintain security, especially in the cyber field.

“Regarding cyber security, we are collaborating with the BSSN (National Cyber and Crypto Agency), which in this case is the lead sector. We also have elements that are involved in cyber, such as the TNI sub-cyber, as well as the TNI’s BAIS (Strategic Intelligence Agency). who have little cyber infrastructure,” said General Andika Perkasa

The Indonesian government did not stop to ensure that the G20 cybersecurity ran smoothly and gave a good impression to the heads of state who were present in mid-November 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. Good cooperation from a number of parties in securing cyber attacks is expected to be successful in the G20 Presidency of Indonesia so as to bring a good image of the nation in the eyes of the world.
