Choirul Fuadi, Central Kalimantan, CIDISS– Kotawaringin Barat regency after finished to emergency status the rabies disease, now government of Kotawaringin Barat confronted with emergency of harmful food.
It based on result of sample test of Team of fresh food secure (KPS) found harmful material in vegetable which spread in Indra Sari market, Pangkalan Bun, central Kalimantan.
Sample of 15 vegetables in that market, the team found surprised fact. That is, 10 of its, contamination of harmful pesticide. The vegetables are mustard, kangkung, tomato, cabbage and chili.
Moreover, the team also found chemistry of pesticide not only on local vegetable but also vegetable from Java Island.
In spite, the team also found vegetable free of harmful chemistry such as Java mustard, string bean, beans, potato and spinach.
Besides vegetable, surprised fact came from product in process which containing harmful chemistry, such as wheat chips contained with borax and fish contained with formalin.
“It must give a space after harvest, in order pesticide soluble by water, both rain or water from farmer,” said chief of agriculture information and food availability agency Kotawaringin Barat, Abet Nego like quote in Borneo News, Saturday (20/6/2015).
Whereas, Said Abet, Government of Kotawaringin Barat has been minimize of using harmful chemistry in fresh food product or product in process. But, wrong perception of farmer, their perception is, to increase their productivity; it must give chemistry fertilizer or pesticide.
“Farmer must give understand well about using of that chemistry appropriate to the composition such as using pesticide on once a week, not give on every 2 days,” advice him.
