The Selection Committee for Candidates for the Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (Pansel Capim KPK) did not find any violations of the ethics of the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Firli Bahuri. There is no problem in Firli’s track record in the selection process.

“As for the results of the track record submitted directly by the Deputy for Internal Control and Public Complaints (PIPM) the KPK to the Pansel have been cross-tested with the track records of a number of institutions,” said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Capim KPK Indriyanto Seno Adji in Jakarta.

According to him, the Pansel did not find any formal form of the KPK’s Employee Advisory Council (DPP) which decided definitively of serious violations of ethics by Firli. The former KPK Depression Enforcement was clean.

Indriyanto conveyed this to clear up the misunderstanding of the statement on the cross-examination of the KPK capim’s track record, particularly against Firli Bahuri. This is related to the party at the KPK who previously mentioned the alleged serious violation of ethics by Firli Bahuri.

He explained, since the administrative test, competency test, both objective test and paper writing, psychological test, examination, profile assessment, medical test, to interview and public test, Firli had the best level of consistency. “In fact, it can be said that selection is in the best position that can be accounted for.”

The KPK Capim Committee has also run a cross-examination of the positive and negative results of Firli’s track record, both from BIN, BNPT, BNN, PPATK, Police, Attorney General, and the KPK. During the public testing phase, Firli had clarified and explained that there was no DPP decision.

The committee has exploratively explored the input of the KPK and the civil society coalition. As a result, there was no formal DPP decision on ethical violations. Only statements, formulations, and words that appear can create stigma and negative labeling to the capim.

“Speech disseminated in the public sphere can create misleading statements and character assassination which certainly harms the dignity of the capim. Moreover, if the statement is precisely to create a negative stigma labeling of the goal of eliminating the suitability test stage and the appropriateness of the capim,” he explained.

According to Indriyanto, regardless of the pros and cons or likes and dislikes, all parties must behave wisely towards the process of testing candidates in the DPR. “Don’t prejudice even spread tyranny and hatred that have an impact on the disharmony of law enforcement institutions,” he explained.

Statements that are misleading with stigma, he said, are manifestations of unhealthy democracy and violate the level of law in the public sphere, which should be respected. All parties are asked to trust all the mechanisms that are running in the DPR.
