The Papuan Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) is still carrying out its terrorist acts. The group is not only targeting security forces, but also civilians in Papua.

The Papuan KST gang is acting up again. This time, KST Papua set fire to the SMKN 1 Oksibil school building and opened fire on a plane that was about to land at Oksibil Airport in Gunung Bintang Regency on Monday (9/1). Previously they also opened fire on a police patrol car and motorcycle taxi drivers in the Oksibil District, Ipukdol Village, Gunung Bintang, Papua, on Saturday (7/1).

Previously, in December 2022 KST attacked six civilians. In this attack, 4 people died. There were three residents who were killed in the Gunung Bintang Regency, Papua Mountains. Meanwhile in Puncak Regency, a resident who was killed was one of the employees who worked at Bank Papua.

Komnas HAM asked the police to arrest the perpetrators and process them until the judge decided the case. Komnas HAM also encourages the government to enforce the law against the perpetrators of the murders.

Komnas HAM Commissioner Uli Parulian said the police must arrest the armed group and bring them to court to be tried according to the rule of law. It is the court that decides to punish the armed group.

So the government must take a strict law enforcement approach against armed groups who commit murders and other things against civilians in Papua.

On the other hand, Uli said Komnas HAM continues to encourage dialogue to prevent prolonged violence.

Komnas HAM since its establishment until today has continued to encourage peaceful dialogue in Papua, encouraging all parties to stop violence in Papua.

In May 2022, the KST terrorists also showed their heinousness again after killing a truck driver named Nober Palintin in Puncak Regency, Papua. The victim was first kidnapped and then shot dead.

The heinous murder that befell the victim began when he and his partner with the initials AT mined sand in the Gome District, Puncak Regency, Papua.

Wakasatgas Public Relations for Peaceful Operations Cartenz AKBP Arif Irawan said the victim had previously been kidnapped. The victim was suddenly pulled from the truck and taken away at that time. Nober was brought quite far by KST, namely from the Gome District to the Ilaga District. Right at Kali Wilipur Kampung Kimak, Ilaga District, the victim was immediately shot dead.

When found, there were two gunshot wounds on the victim’s body. Both gunshot wounds were found on the victim’s back and shoulder. The KST action proves that KST really committed gross human rights violations and deserves to be eradicated.

Of course, the pinning of the terrorist label for KST is not without foundation. Because Law Number 5 of 2018 states that a terrorist is anyone who plans, mobilizes and organizes terrorism.

Meanwhile, terrorism has the meaning of acts that use violence or threats of violence that create an atmosphere of terror or widespread fear that can cause mass casualties or cause damage or destruction to strategic vital objects, to the environment, public facilities or international facilities with ideological motives. , politics and security.

The existence of KST in Papua with all its acts of terror so far has certainly created an endless sense of fear for Papuans. It is not wrong for Papuans to become inflamed and express their jealousy towards their countrymen and fellow countrymen in other areas who are allowed to enjoy the dynamics of normal life without fear from the sudden attack from KST.

KST did not stop voicing narratives to separate from the Republic of Indonesia, the group also justified any means such as rioting, burning public facilities to attacking security forces.

KST itself has tarnished the name of Papua which is known as a region with beautiful scenery. The beauty of Papua shouldn’t be damaged by the presence of KST who like to spread terror with weapons or with provocation.

Even though the current government is also starting to develop Papua, such as building roads and bridges, so that access to transportation becomes easier, with the hope of cutting the price of goods distribution.

One of the infrastructure developments whose benefits can be directly felt is the development of Trans Papua. The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KPUPR) stated that the length of the Trans Papua road in Papua reaches 2,902 km.

Improved connectivity also improves social life, because people can visit each other more often. Road construction leads to reduced costs and travel time. This is of course very profitable for farmers and traders to distribute their agricultural products and merchandise to be marketed.

This development effort, of course, cannot run well if it is still worrying from a security standpoint.

Don’t let this development actually be hampered by acts of terror that only add to the wounds and grief for the people of Papua.

Development for Papua is carried out for the realization of a peaceful and prosperous Papua. All forms of terror acts carried out by KST against civilians or TNI-Polri officers, must receive legal consequences, the existence of KST must be eradicated because they are the ones who have committed human rights violations.
