The Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) is an obstacle to development and serious human rights violators. They not only have the heart to hurt the TNI/Polri but also their fellow Papuans.

The Papuan Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) apparently hasn’t stopped making trouble in Papua. This was proven after a motorcycle taxi driver in Puncak Regency, Papua, was shot by an unknown person. It is suspected that the shooters were members of the Separatist Terrorist Group.

The incident took place on Monday, October 4, 2021, right at the Kali Ilame Permanent Bridge, Wako Village, Puncak Regency. Initially, an Ojek driver named Jusalim (48 years old) took a passenger to the Gome District area. On the way back to Ilaga, to be exact near the Permanent Bridge in Kali Ilume, Wako Village, the victim was stopped by two perpetrators.

The perpetrator asked the victim to take one of the two people back to Gome to pick up the goods at his house. After that, the victim and one of the perpetrators returned to the victim’s initial place to transport the perpetrator’s friend. There, one of the perpetrators had been waiting near the Gome Permanent bridge.

Suddenly, an assailant who was waiting on the bridge, pointed a gun at the victim’s head. Immediately, the suspect shot at the victim. Then when the friend of the perpetrator who was behind the victim came down, one of the suspects approached the victim from behind and immediately pointed a gun at the victim’s face and fired immediately.

However, the victim turned his head to the left, so the shot hit the victim’s right cheek (recoset). Then the victim immediately drove his motorcycle to the Infantry Battalion 521 Raider Post to ask for help and assistance.

Previously, the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Andi Taufan Damanik said that KST, which often carries out attacks, has indeed disrupted Papua’s development. Therefore, according to Andi, the actions of the KKB which often carry out these attacks clearly harm all parties in Papua.

He also emphasized that Komnas HAM had sent a team to Papua to provide input to the police there, so that they could quickly take action against what KST had done.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Syarief Hasan, gave support to the TNI-Polri to crush all rebellions carried out by KST in Papua that carried out various acts of terror against the community. He considered that there was no longer room for dialogue with the group, so that the TNI-Polri on duty in Papua should not hesitate to take complete countermeasures. According to him, the KKB is an enemy of the state and the people of Indonesia so it should be crushed down to the roots.

Syarief said the government had made many efforts to accelerate development in Papua and West Papua. Over the past 20 years, the government has disbursed an allocation of Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds and additional infrastructure funds (DTI) for Papua and West Papua amounting to Rp 136.65 trillion.

According to him, this is an affirmation policy and development priority that explains the government’s commitment to developing Papua and West Papua to advance and compete like other regions in Indonesia. According to Syarief, with the Otsus and DTI funding instruments, physical and non-physical development, infrastructure and human resources can run well and quickly.

According to him, if it happened like that, then there was no other way for the TNI-Polri other than to take more firm countermeasures against acts of terror. He said, if the terror from KST continues to be allowed, of course the victims from the apparatus and civilians will continue to fall so that the KKB cannot be tolerated and must be crushed down to its roots.

Syarief believes that the people of Papua and West Papua really yearn for peace, economic activity, worship and social life in general to run safely and peacefully. What KST has done seems to have only undermined the happiness of the Papuan people. This heinous act of armed gangs only hinders the development that is being promoted by the government.

KST’s actions have clearly been proven to violate human rights and hinder development. It is time for the TNI-Polri to be able to become saviors from the potential security disturbances that arise due to the actions of KST who are not happy with the development in Papua.
