Maintaining Discipline and Productivity During the Covid-19 Pandemic

The co-19 pandemic made the order of life in Indonesia change drastically and people were required to move at home. When it is safe enough to leave the house again in the new normal era, we adapt again and meet the health protocol. For example, diligently washing hands and wearing cloth masks. Discipline to maintain hygiene is needed to avoid corona. In the new normal era, the community is also expected to return to work productively.

Work productivity was boosted at the beginning of the new normal era. Even though we are still in the co-19 pandemic, it does not mean we can be lazy. Do not want to be outdone by Corona and there is a suggestion from the president to make peace with this disease. Making peace does not mean losing, but living a normal life with caution and alert so as not to contract the covid-19 virus.

To begin the new normal era, productivity in the workplace is again increased. The performance of the employees is expected to be able to recollect. They may again work in offices, even with strict health protocols. Why must there be a protocol like this? Certainly so that employees can work diligently and productively, without having to fear being exposed to corona.

The protocol at work during the co-19 pandemic is as follows, the first is the existence of a shift work system and alternately entering the office. Why do you have to take turns and not be as full as before? Because there are physical distancing rules to avoid the potential of corona transmission, so all chairs and cubicles may not be attached together. So the capacity of the room was reduced to 60 percent. Automatic employee entry is also reduced, so that work alternates. But even though only entering the office only 3-4 days a week, the rest of the work is still being worked at home, aka work from home.

Productivity at work does not mean being overtime as usual. If there is work that has not been completed, can still work overtime, as long as the employee is really healthy. But if he is over 50 years, no overtime is allowed. The reason is because older people are more at risk of contracting the covid-19 virus. It is feared that if he overtime and overexert himself, it will easily hurt and contract corona.

Employees must also be taken care of their health and hygiene. The goal is of course that his body is in shape and he can work productively. If necessary, the company provides vitamin C rations or herbal drinks to increase stamina. The office should also be sprayed with disinfectants at least 4 hours. Especially in the door handles, lobby, and other parts that are often visited by many people.

Employees are also expected to participate in maintaining discipline so that they are not easily infected with corona. Discipline can be started from small things, such as diligent hand washing or cleaning the palm with a hand sanitizer. They are also required to wear masks, both indoors and outdoors. The mask must also be kept clean. If everyone is disciplined, of course it will be safe from the covid-19 virus attack.

Discipline for employees must also be done at home. When you get home from work, you shouldn’t kiss the cheeks of the children even if you miss the most. They have to wash up quickly and wash their hair and change clothes, then they can touch other family members. Bathing and shampooing is done so that cleanliness is maintained and protected from the covid-19 virus. So discipline is not only done at work, but also in residential areas.

Even though it is still in the co-19 pandemic, work productivity cannot just wither away. Moreover, the new normal era has begun and the office reopened. We can work with enthusiasm and discipline in complying with health protocols to prevent transmission of the covid-19 virus.
