The Covid-19 pandemic is believed to have weakened the national economy and triggered a wave of mass layoffs. The community also supports the discussion of the Omnibus Law on Employment Law which is expected to open a large investment faucet and be a solution to the threat of mass layoffs.

Termination of Employment (PHK) is indeed a scourge for many employees or laborers, despite getting severance pay, but this remains a threat in itself because those affected by layoffs must continue to struggle to find work in order to continue to support their families.

Of course layoffs are unexpected for every worker who works in any business sector, but certainly no one can guarantee that workers who work will be immune from the threat of layoffs, therefore the guarantee of layoffs in the Omnibus Law policy at least becomes evidence that the government in the midst of formulating strategies to provide welfare guarantees for workers.

In the midst of the 19th Pandemic, it certainly had an impact on the inevitable mass layoffs, this is because the Covid-19 Pandemic had caused all economic nodes to stop completely and impact on the economic slowdown.

This fact certainly makes the government continue to think that thousands of workers who were laid off could be saved. Of course one alternative that can be done is to work on a Work Copyright Bill. This is because the regulation regulates job loss guarantees for workers affected by layoffs.

In fact, the Omnibus Law Cipta Karya is very visible as a safety net for workers when termination of employment is done. Currently there are not a few workers who are laid off without getting compensation or severance pay.

If the omnibus law is implemented, of course the company will not arbitrarily lay off employees without severance pay.

The Omnibus Employment Law Bill provides that every contract worker in case of termination of employment will be given full compensation. Whereas permanent employees will be given severance pay and even then it must be given in full.

The Omnibus Law discussion should not be misunderstood that the government does not care about the impact of the co-19 pandemic. This Work Creation Bill should be able to be a bodyguard for workers in Indonesia so that in the future, workers’ rights can be fulfilled 100 percent by employers.

The termination of a scourge is indeed quite a scary thing. However, with the Employment Creation Bill this will guarantee the lives of employees or affected Laborers, for example by forming and ensuring workers who are laid off to be able to return to work until they can switch professions by becoming entrepreneurs.

This certainly does not make a reason to reject the work copyright omnibus, because if this regulation is applied, of course the victims of layoffs can continue to survive in living their lives.

The government considers the Cipta Karya omnibus to be a solution to the recent termination of work, namely ice cream producers Aice and Indosat Oredoo.

In the draft Omnibus Law on Employment Copyright, employees or workers who have been laid off will get a guarantee of losing their jobs. The guarantee is held by BP Jamsostek.

The highest potential for layoffs is predicted to occur in the labor-intensive sector if the co-19 pandemic continues until Eid this year. Employers will almost certainly choose to reduce employees to ease the burden of expenses.

The government is also working on a program called the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP). This program is prepared as a follow-up to the Cipta Karya Bill.

Through the program, employees affected by Termination of Employment will benefit from the government. The benefits provided from this program are divided into 3 types.

First, the benefits in the form of money. Second, the benefits are in the form of vocational training. Third, the benefits in the form of access to new jobs. This shows that the Omnibus Work Cipta Karya Bill can indeed be a solution to overcome layoffs.

This, of course, provides the benefits for laborers with regard to welfare benefits, if the industries that employ them close their businesses or lay off.

For workers who have lost their livelihoods, these facilities will be provided as long as the company or the person concerned has become part of an active participant of the BPJS Employment.

Therefore, the Omnibus Law on Employment Copyright is a real form of government concern for the fate of workers. So hopefully, workers affected by layoffs still get the opportunity to work or entrepreneurship.
