JAKARTA – Papuan leaders support the legal process carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe. The chairman of the Jayapura Religious Harmony Forum, Alberth Yoku, stated that everyone is equal before the law.

“So is Luke Enembe. As an Indigenous Papuan (OAP), I, along with religious and traditional leaders, fully support the KPK’s task of taking firm action against Lukas Enembe,” said Alberth in the Elshinta News program, Monday (3/10/2022).

According to Alberth, the alleged corruption committed by Lukas Enembe was probably not just gratification, but related to the Special Autonomy (Otsus) fund, which was quite large. For this reason, the KPK and the National Police must work together in following up on the Enembe case. He hopes that Corruption, Collusion, Nepotism (KKN) must disappear from Papua.

Alberth emphasized that if Enembe did not feel guilty, he should have attended the KPK directly and not politicized this case. Currently, Enembe is politicizing the case by mobilizing the masses to protest.

“All Papuan indigenous community leaders support the government’s attitude to process the law. As a Papuan people, we are very ashamed of this case, especially when it involves a local man,” said Alberth.

Alberth added that Enembe’s legal process is actually to achieve good governance. For this reason, all Papuan people must unite and supervise the special autonomy funds, which are quite large.

“Don’t let these funds be corrupted or misappropriated. Law enforcement is one way to save Papua’s special autonomy fund,” he explained. []
