The National Sports Week (PON) is an event for the nation’s children from various regions to jump in to show their achievements for the country to be able to speak in the international arena and to bring red and white to the highest podium. Not only that, PON is able to become a means of promoting regional areas and moving the wheels of the community’s economy.
The implementation of PON XX in 2021 which will take place in Papua will be held in 4 regions, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Merauke Regency, and Mimika Regency .
Even though it was postponed a year from the original schedule, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the existence of this event is still beneficial for the people on Earth of Cendrawasih . They are also proud to be trusted to host this grand event.
PON is very important for Papua because it will be an added value for equitable development in Papua, as well as an increase in the community’s economy, because the success of PON is not only limited to successful implementation, but provides opportunities for talented nationals to show their best service to the Republic of Indonesia.
In addition, the XX Papua PON can also have an impact on improving the community’s economy after previously being sluggish due to the pandemic. People in the villages can peddle local Papuan accessories or sell local Papuan food at tourist attractions.
It is hoped that the success of holding the XX PON in 2021 in Papua is expected to have a positive impact on Indonesia through the nation’s character built through sports and showing a spirit of optimism and confidence that Indonesia will rise from the pandemic after the spread of the Covid-19 vaccination program.
With the various positive impacts of holding PON XX in 2021 in Papua, all people including citizens in the world of social media should support the smooth running of the XX PON, as a form of unity and integrity that Papua is Indonesia, Peaceful Papua, Great and Successful Papua towards an Advanced Indonesia. .
