PON XX Papua is pride and self-respect for Papuans and the people of Papua. Therefore, it is inappropriate for people outside Papua to spread negative and pessimistic opinions, as if Papuans will not be able to hold a national event.
It is very surprising if there are parties who try to thwart the XX Papua PON. in 2020 it was supposed to be the XX PON moment in Papua. However, it was finally decided to postpone it until October 2021. Watching Tokyo Japan successfully hold the Olympics, should increase the confidence of all parties that the Papua PON can be carried out better, even during the Covid 19 Pandemic .
The government’s trust and reasons for organizing the Papua National PON have gone through various comprehensive considerations. Therefore, it is inappropriate to spread concerns over the impact of deaths due to Covid 19 on the Papua National Sports Week .
Supposedly, the implementation of the XX Papua PON also gives recognition to the people and people of Papua and other regions, that Papua is able to host a grand event for athletes throughout Indonesia.
The 20th National Sports Week will be held on October 2-15, 2021. This time, Papua Province has the opportunity to host this one national multi- event . To be precise, there are 4 clusters that will be the location of sports competitions, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency , Mimika Regency , and Merauke Regency.
President Joko Widodo had reminded that the PON in Papua was not just a sports competition. However, PON is a common arena to celebrate diversity, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, and an arena to strengthen unity and integrity. Let’s together inflame our spirit of solidarity and unity for the success of PON XX Papua 2020.
