The TNI, Polri, and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) continue to work together to optimize the conducive situation during the G20 Summit which will be held on November 15-16, 2022. The G20 Summit is an event of international standard, which is attended by the leaders of countries in the world, so that their safety factor must be prioritized.

Indonesia is proud to be the G20 Presidency in 2022 and Bali was chosen as the main venue for the G20 because it has been used as a meeting place and international forum several times. A total of 28 delegates from various countries will come, consisting of 19 G20 members and 9 invited countries.

The safety factor is of course the main thing when a global event like the G20 takes place, because in an international event, there should be no mistakes. Don’t let Indonesia’s reputation as the presidency be tarnished because the security forces were misled when the summit started. Therefore, security has been carried out long ago, and there is collaboration between the TNI (Indonesian National Army), Polri (Republic of Indonesia Police), and BIN (State Intelligence Agency).

President Jokowi asked the TNI and Polri as well as BIN to work together to make the G20 Summit a success. According to him, Indonesia was given the trust to contribute to the world. This year (albeit in difficult times), Indonesia became the G20 Presidency. In addition, Indonesia is also believed to be a member of the Global Crisis Response Champion Group.

President Jokowi added that next year Indonesia will become the Chair of ASEAN. Indonesia must be able to show the world that leadership in the G20 can produce concrete actions and solutions so that the world crisis does not continue, and build a world that is more capable of facing the challenges ahead.

In a sense, the G20 Presidency is very important because what is at stake is the trust of many other countries. So far, Indonesia already has a good name and is trusted by many parties to become a leader. Therefore the G20 Summit must take place with 100% success. To support this event, the security factor must be prioritized, so that there are no terrorists or other parties that interfere with it.

So far, Bali is known as the island of paradise and the G20 delegates already know Bali as a favorite tourist attraction. However, some of them may still remember the Bali bombing, even though it happened more than 20 years ago. Therefore, at the G20 Summit, the TNI, Polri, and BIN worked hard to secure and at the same time change so that there would be no negative stigma about Bali and Indonesia.

Regional Military Commander (Pangdam) IX/Udayana Major General TNI Sonny Aprianto, who has the mandate as Commander of the Bali Regional Security Task Force for the G20, will deploy 6,000 TNI troops for the regional security task force. Kodam IX/Udayana is also preparing 2,000 soldiers to be prepared to anticipate natural disasters.

Security to anticipate natural disasters is carried out because in Bali there are 11 potential natural disasters. Ranging from tsunamis to volcanic eruptions. The soldiers will be on standby at various important points in Bali, especially at entrances (such as airports and ports) to maintain security.

TNI soldiers will collaborate with members of the National Police to BIN, so that security in various sectors can be carried out as optimally as possible. A total of 1,365 police will be on standby to secure the G20 summit. They are a joint force from the Bali Police and the National Police Headquarters BKO.

The safety factor really comes first in guarding the G20 Summit. Not only during the event, but also before and after the summit. The guard must be carried out strictly and there is good collaboration between the TNI and the Police. They both maintain that there is no chaos during the G20 Summit, and at the same time maintain the good name of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, BIN also took part in maintaining security during the G20 Summit. Wawan Hari Purwanto, Spokesperson for BIN, stated that the G20 Summit Security Preparations were continuously carried out as an effort to provide comfort and security for guests as a preventive measure. Security and safeguards are carried out to the maximum, in order to maintain the image and good name of Indonesia in the eyes of the world.

To secure the G20 Summit, BIN strictly guarded every entrance and exit to Bali. These include Ngurah Rai Airport, Benoa Harbor, and Gilimanuk Harbor. The goal is to prevent criminals. Prevention is carried out to anticipate the slightest risk, so that the G20 Summit takes place safely.

Don’t let the entrances and exits of Bali be visited by irresponsible parties. Therefore it is natural that security is tightened. Especially ahead of the summit taking place in November. Everyone who comes to Bali must be checked, not only their ID cards and other identity cards, but also their destination. This is not an exaggeration, but a way to secure the summit from all kinds of worst-case scenarios.

To secure the G20 Summit, there must be collaboration from the TNI, Polri, and BIN. They worked together so that the summit would take place without any problems and that no one would deliberately disrupt it. All troops were deployed and the entrances and exits of Bali were guarded, to minimize the potential for crime.
