Wamena’s current condition has been declared conducive. The Security Apparatus is committed to protecting and protecting the community without exception. Refugees are expected to be able to go home and have normal activities to rebuild a better Wamena.
The Wamena riot might still leave a wound. However, life must go on and be worth fighting for. Even with the refugees in the barracks. They were ready to be sent home when Wamena was reported to be conducive and safe. And their house is ready to be built. Even so, the authorities are still on guard to ensure the security of residents affected by this riot. As reported, these refugees will be repatriated gradually.
Previously, many people’s houses were burned down by separatist groups led by Benny Wenda. Many of them are migrants. There are also those who refuse to return to their hometowns, because they consider that there is still hope in Papua. In addition, the cost of returning to the village is considered to be quite large. While they have nothing left after the burning of their residence. They added, if the most important thing was the security situation which was gradually conducive and government assistance to rebuild their damaged houses.
Good news came, through the Ministry of Social Affairs the Government has poured funds worth Rp 3.8 billion to deal with the impact of the riots that occurred in Wamena. Among other things, in the form of logistics, productive economic efforts and compensation for heirs of victims who died in the incident.
Harry Hikmat, as the Director General of Social Protection and Social Security at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said that if the Government encourages exodus residents to return to Wamena again. Of course, with security guarantees from the military and police. So they will feel safe about the efforts made by the two officers.
Opinions about the conducive situation of Wamena were also expressed by TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto. He emphasized that the area was safe and controlled. This was proven by the commencement of teaching and learning activities in Wamena regional schools. Hadi also expressed plans to visit Wamena, along with other parties. Namely, the National Police Chief, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health, BUMN, the Ministry of PUPR, also did not forget the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security.
Hadi also added, currently the government has sent logistical needs to help refugees and communities affected by the Wamena riots. According to him, of the 3,800 refugees in Wamena, some are still in the TNI headquarters, namely the Koramil and also the Kodim. He has also deployed troops to guard conflict-prone areas. He hopes that with these efforts, it will be able to improve security there.
Hadi said that if the TNI deployed forces in order to support the Indonesian National Police in several areas including Jayapura and Wamena. The aim is to give trust to residents in Wamena. This proves that security stability will continue to be maintained, including the economy in Wamena can run normally again.
Similar rights were expressed by the Commander of the 20th Infantry Brigade of Ima Jaya Keramo / Division 3 Kostrad Colonel Inf Charles Sagala. He stated that the security situation and public order in Wamena as well as Ilaga, Papua, were gradually conducive. This increasingly good situation is expected to be able to make the community feel safe so that they can encourage them to return from the evacuation area.
The statements were also guaranteed by the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Pol AM Kamal. He also stated that the Wamena community had returned to normal activities. He sincerely hopes that there will be no more provocative actions that lead to anarchistic actions in the Wamena region.
In addition, he also appealed to citizens not to immediately believe in hoaxes whose truth cannot be accounted for. Meanwhile, joint forces not only protect the economy and public activities, they also provide security to several vital objects in the Wamena region. He also stated that the demonstration in Wamena, Papua that ended in this riot was suspected by the statement of racism. So that it triggers emotions and causes chaos.
Furthermore, hopes and prayers are again being said, so that our brothers and sisters in the earth of Paradise, especially in Wamena will soon be 100 percent safe and in control. The rioters can immediately be arrested and tried, so that there will be no more similar cases which are considered to be detrimental to residents. The most important thing is to maintain unity and integrity, so that individuals who want to divide the Unitary Republic of Indonesia will fail to do so.
