Jakarta – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as the backbone of the national economy. MSMEs have a vital role in creating jobs and economic growth, with a very significant contribution to Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Deputy Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Wamen UMKM), Helvi Moraza revealed the scheme to upgrade the class of UMKM actors so they can export, namely through collaboration, financing, and mentoring. Helvi also said that his party is focused on increasing the productivity and quality of the UMKM sector with various strategic programs.

“There is a program called UMKM Naik Kelas. And yesterday, the Minister of UMKM (Maman Abdurrahman), during a visit to Palembang, he has asked PNM to issue at least 10 top talents that we will upgrade,” said Helvi.

Helvi continued, MSMEs at the lowest level will be fostered by various institutions, one of which is PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), which has a vital role in developing MSMEs from the lowest level. PNM is expected to produce at least 10 top MSME talents who will be accelerated to move up a class.

“There is an element of collaboration from all parties. Well, at the bottom level, this is what PNM is doing. Well, from here when it increases a little, we try to KUR (People’s Business Credit),” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI) of Central Java Province, Rahmat Dwisaputra said that his party continues to encourage MSMEs to penetrate the export market. As experienced by one of their fostered MSMEs, Kwadungan Java Coffee, which again received an order to export coffee to Taiwan.

“The purchase of coffee by buyers from Taiwan after business matching has begun to be realized at the end of last year amounting to 15 tons of green beans worth IDR 1.1 billion and continued with a second order in 2025 amounting to 19 tons of green beans worth IDR 1.6 billion,” he explained.

Kwungan Java Coffee is a producer of Arabica coffee with the brand name Kopi Arabica Sindoro. The coffee beans produced come from land owned by residents in the Kwadungan Gunung area, Kledung, Temanggung Regency. Currently, the UMKM is trying to increase its export share which previously reached 50 tons/year.

“Export development must be accompanied by consistency of MSMEs to maintain the quality and quantity of their products, so that they can maintain competitiveness in the international market including the domestic market,” explained Rahmat.

The Central Java Province BI Representative Office strives to maintain synergy between the regional government and stakeholders to encourage the development of MSMEs in Central Java.

“To support sustainable national economic growth,” he concluded.
