MSMEs Play an Important Role in Realizing Food Security

Jakarta – Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in supporting national food security. As the driving force of the people’s economy, food MSMEs contribute greatly to maintaining the availability of basic ingredients through the production, distribution, and marketing of food products in various regions of Indonesia.

The Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman, emphasized his commitment to supporting national food security. One of the strategic steps taken is to provide financing for equipment needed by MSMEs in various sectors. This step is expected to improve business sustainability and strengthen the position of MSMEs as the driving force of the economy.

“We are committed to supporting national food security by providing financing for equipment needed by MSMEs in various sectors. This step is expected to improve business sustainability and strengthen the position of MSMEs as the driving force of the economy,” said Maman.

In line with this, the Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, said that SOEs need to create concrete programs aimed at encouraging MSMEs to move up a class.

“For example, designing training programs or mentoring for MSMEs. Or helping market access. That is the direction of the Minister of SOEs,” said Arya.

Not only the government, entrepreneurs also support the program. Corporate Secretary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero/SIG) Tbk, Vita Mahreyni said that her party continues to support MSMEs to move up a class to realize food security. The mentoring program for MSMEs is part of SIG’s commitment to creating added value for the community.

“So far, SIG through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program has continued to provide assistance and mentoring to MSME activists so that they are competitive and able to develop their businesses,” he said.

The role of BUMN through mentoring programs and market access assistance also encourages MSMEs to move up a class. The commitment of private companies, such as PT Semen Indonesia through the CSR program, also strengthens the competitiveness of MSMEs in various regions. This cross-sector collaboration is expected to strengthen the position of MSMEs as the driving force of the economy and ensure the availability of national food in a sustainable manner.

With cross-sector support and synergy, the government is optimistic that MSMEs will continue to be an important pillar in maintaining national food security and realizing food sovereignty throughout Indonesia.

MSMEs have a strategic role in realizing national food security through production, distribution, and marketing of food products that support the people’s economy. Government support, such as financing for business equipment and training, is a concrete step that strengthens the sustainability of MSME businesses.
