Labuan Bajo – It is believed that the implementation of the ASEAN Summit 2023 will be able to boost the local community’s economy due to the acceleration of money circulation in the region.
The Director of the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority Executing Agency (BPOLBF) as the local committee of the BPOLBF, Shana Fatina stated that the money circulation target is expected to be not much different from the MotoGP event in Lombok last year.
“Yesterday from MotoGP, Rp. 5 trillion, money circulating. We want to see at the ASEAN Summit how much money in circulation goes to Labuan Bajo. Estimates will not be much different, he said
He added that the target was aimed at hotels, inns, dining businesses, and transportation services during the 2023 ASEAN Summit.
Shana estimates that at least 3,000 people will come to Labuan Bajo when the big agenda is carried out. He also invited all parties to prepare the event carefully, including in terms of food
“There is even a possibility that food ingredients must be stocked more than before so there is no shortage of food or snacks,” said Shana.
BPOLBF together with the West Manggarai Regency Government, he added, will continue to coordinate with various parties for the success of the ASEAN Summit later, including accommodation readiness. This is because the arrival of the leaders and delegates coincided with the peak of the holiday in Labuan Bajo.
“Currently, we are collecting rooms, because it coincides with the peak of tourist visits,” he concluded.
Previously, community leaders in Golo Mori Village, Hasanudin hoped that the 2023 ASEAN Summit would be able to increase the economic income of local communities in the region. Especially after the decline in the Covid-19 pandemic
“With the presence of the ASEAN Summit, it is hoped that it will help in terms of tourism which has been in suspended animation for two and a half years,” he said.
He added, the 2023 ASEAN Summit which appointed Labuan Bajo as the host was a form of international confidence in Indonesia that this world-scale activity could be carried out in safe and conducive conditions.
Not only that, the implementation of the ASEAN Summit is believed to have great benefits and have an impact on improving the economy, although not directly but slowly the economy will revive.
