The Covid-19 pandemic is still happening and has had an impact on various sectors of life. The public is also advised to increase mutual cooperation as the key in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that the implementation of Pancasila values in the form of mutual assistance for all communities and stakeholders was the main key in handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
This was conveyed by the President during his speech at the 67th Anniversary at Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) at the Arntz-Geise Learning Center (PPAG) Unpar, Bandung City, West Java Province. Not only that, the spirit of gotong royong was also seen in the community who helped each other in dealing with the pandemic.
Jokowi added that we have what is called gotong royong, our Pancasila is there. Big countries don’t have it, they don’t have that people in villages, people in RT, people in RW are willing to give their houses for isolation, for quarantine. Those who have it want to give groceries to those who are just having trouble because of the pandemic.
In the face of a pandemic, the government also continues to accelerate the implementation of vaccinations. The total dose of Covid-19 vaccination nationally has reached 297.5 million doses and currently there are 30 provinces that have reached the vaccination target of above 70%. The President emphasized that this achievement was not easy, especially considering the geographical challenges faced by Indonesia.
Jokowi said, Injecting 297 million times into 17 thousand islands, 514 regencies and cities, 34 provinces, is not an easy thing. Some have to take a boat, some have to ride a motorbike to go up the mountain and this is of course not something easy. He also greatly appreciated the TNI and Polri who gave full support in the context of this vaccination. Jokowi said that vaccination in Indonesia was number 4 in the world after China, Brazil and America.
In addition to the challenges of the pandemic, technological disruption and the industrial revolution 4.0 have also caused global uncertainty to increase. The complexity of these global problems is also compounded by the scarcity of energy, food, and containers which causes the distribution of logistics to be disrupted.
In addition, the increase in inflation that occurred in almost all countries has also been the cause of the increase in producer prices which has an impact on the increase in consumer prices as well. To that end, the President emphasized the importance of global leadership.
On a different occasion, the handling of Covid-19 in the Wates Village, North Magelang District, received an appreciation from the Mayor of Magelang Sigit Widyonindito when he held a village visits program. Sigit saw the spirit of mutual cooperation and a high sense of concern among neighbors in the village, so that the spread of the corona virus could be controlled.
Sigit said, the people of Magelang City are very intelligent. Even though in the midst of a pandemic and times are getting more difficult, they can still work together to deal with the pandemic which is still our common enemy. According to Sigit, one of the best strategies to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is community discipline. After that, then the government’s role in encouraging the spirit to always inflame health protocols.
He also reminded that in the midst of this unfinished pandemic, people are advised not to travel except for urgent needs, such as earning a living which requires leaving the house. On that occasion, Sigit planted chilies symbolically on agricultural land owned by residents of RW 01.
The visit made by the Mayor received appreciation from Wates Village Head Ravi Pagas Makalosa. He said that through this village inspection program, the Mayor and city government officials were pleased to review the 13 RW and 84 RT in Wates, this is a matter of pride, so his party is excited to implement the health protocol.
The spirit of gotong royong was also inflamed by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, who carried out the jogo tonggo program or taking care of neighbors. Where the smallest neighborhood in the RT must have a caring attitude towards other neighbors. For example, in the form of food assistance to people who are undergoing self-isolation.
Gotong royong is a spirit that must be maintained especially during a pandemic, this spirit of gotong royong will produce an attitude of mutual care between residents so that when residents in an area need help, other residents can immediately provide assistance.
