The relocation of the National Capital City (IKN) from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is a big agenda that has gone through various studies and studies. IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan is also believed to be a new engine to realize the progress of the nation.

Former Head of the National Development Planning Agency Andrinof Chaniago said that the State Capital (IKN) in Kalimantan was a new engine for the long journey of the Republic of Indonesia.

In his press statement, Andrinof said that Kalimantan would definitely become a new engine for Indonesia’s long journey considering that the island of Borneo would become Indonesia’s new foundation in the future. He said, as long as we are all committed to carrying out economic transformation, Indonesia will experience a leap from Kalimantan. Leap through a development paradigm that is changed and innovated through data.

Andrinof, who is the Founder of the Indonesia Vision 2033 Team, criticized a number of figures or scientists who argued that they had not yet received an academic manuscript so that they blamed various aspects in planning for the transfer of IKN so that they had opinions that were not based on sufficient data and wrong conclusions.

He considers a number of figures who reject the transfer of IKN to Kalimantan to be unfounded because it is just a mere concern. In fact, it is not difficult for them to get data and documents about IKN, where many figures get exclusive data and documents about the big plan to move the capital city to outside Java.

Andrinof said, the location of IKN is clearly very strategic in the middle of Indonesia and in the middle of the Asia Pacific. Kalimantan’s economy can move from an economy that exploits natural resources to an economy based on science and technology and a tourism economy.

For the tourism sector, we need to know that cities that are traversed by major rivers in Kalimantan can be like Shanghai, Bangkok, Melbourne or other “water front cities” in Europe. It is a healthy economy and a foreign exchange earner at the same time. The economy is shifting from destroying nature to caring for nature because tourism raises awareness of the environment.

Of course, it would be a big mistake to imagine from afar that Kalimantan is just the remnants of a damaged forest, because the move of IKN will bring Kalimantan to be socially transformed.

Previously, the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Eko Putro Sandjojo assessed that the construction of the new National Capital would be a significant tool in increasing economic activity.

Eko hopes that with this new capital, the acceleration of the development of border areas can be carried out. For him, this is a good measure for equitable development, so it is hoped that the surrounding areas can also have a positive economic impact with the new capital city.

The discourse of moving the State Capital is certainly not an idea yesterday afternoon and is not an impromptu plan. The first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno, previously also put forward this idea and a study was carried out by Bappenas regarding the impact of moving the State Capital.

The relocation of the State Capital also encourages equitable development, starting with the planning and implementation of its development which will have a tremendous positive economic impact on the nation through investment and trade channels that will contribute to growth in the region. The transfer of IKN is also proof that the government is currently trying to build the country in an Indonesia-centric way.

Meanwhile, Budi Gunawan as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) said that the construction of an IKN named Nusantara in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, is a new economic growth magnet that can contribute nationally.

He said the transfer of IKN to the province of East Kalimantan has the potential to stimulate more equitable economic growth outside Java. To realize these goals, inter-regional connectivity and strong inter-sectoral linkages are needed.

Budi said it was an important note that the de facto conquest of a country was marked by success in occupying strategic facilities including the capital city of the country as a symbol of the collapse of the country’s system. The separation of the national capital from other cities will minimize the threat to the state.

The development of the Nusantara IKN in East Kalimantan will of course be a magnet for progress for the nation. This development has also received support from the local community, so it is very possible to establish a good synergy between the government and the community.
