Jakarta – The 144th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Session in Bali on 20-24 March 2022 became an important forum to show Indonesia’s success in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Executive Director of the Indonesia Public Institute Karyono Wibowo said that the implementation of the 144th IPU Session must be able to bring out Indonesia’s success in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and how Indonesia can carry out economic recovery after the pandemic must be demonstrated so that Indonesia’s success in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic can be seen internationally.
“Yes, I think it’s a positive thing, showing Indonesia’s ability to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic,” Karyono told reporters, (17/3).
The Executive Director of the Indonesia Public Institute added that with the existence of an international parliamentary forum, it is a good opportunity so that Indonesia’s good name can be truly raised.
“So, not just passing the international event, but carrying the name of Indonesia, this must be put to good use in the world parliamentary forum,” he said.
In line with Karyono’s statement, Putu Supadma Rudana as Deputy Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) also stated that indeed the 144th IPU was the best momentum to show Indonesia’s success in dealing with the pandemic.
“The momentum (IPU) in Bali, we see the most important thing is how we show the world that Indonesia has been able to manage the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic well, so it is hoped that this IPU momentum will be the opening of economic recovery, especially the tourism economy,” he said ( 17/3)
Even the member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives is also very confident in welcoming and accepting world visits to come to Nusa Dua, Bali.
“We echo it and today we have also held a dialogue with the Ambassadors to convey that Indonesia is ready to receive visits from various parties, especially parliaments from around the world to be able to visit Indonesia in the 144th IPU activity which will be held in Nusa Dua, Bali. ,” he said.
On another occasion, Putu also said that Bali was very ready to open itself with the presence of all parliaments from various countries.
“Obviously, it can be the initial momentum to declare to the world that Indonesia, especially Bali, is ready to reopen itself. The point is how we have continued to try to control so that this Covid can be controlled. This is a good moment,” said Putu.
