The community must be active in preventing radicalism because this understanding can damage national unity. The way to prevent this is through education, eradicating hoaxes, and being aware of radicalism on social media. Do not let Indonesia be randomized by radical groups because it can destroy the country.

Currently we are not only fighting against Corona but also with radicalism. The reason is, this understanding is getting crazy because it aims to overthrow the government and replace it with a caliphate state. This action is clearly a violation, therefore radicalism must be eradicated so as not to poison the minds of the Indonesian people.

Responding to this, the Secretary of the West Sulawesi Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), M. Sahlan invites the public to prevent radicalism, because it can break the unity and integrity of the nation. This understanding is dangerous because it can damage the values of unity in Indonesia. Don’t let the actions of radical groups and terrorists cause this country to become divided, like in Afghanistan or Syria.

Radical groups break unity because they always carry out intolerant actions that do not approve of differences and diversity in Indonesia. In fact, we should respect Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, because this country consists of various tribes, languages, cultures and six beliefs that are recognized by the state. Radical groups impose themselves and do not agree with the values of pluralism.

As a result, radical groups use violent means so that their wishes can be fulfilled, namely the formation of a caliphate state. The people need to prevent these ways of violence, because they carry out actions such as sweeping without permission, attacks, and bombings in public places. This madness should be prohibited so that it does not spread and damage national unity.

M. Sahlan continued, there is no single belief in the world that teaches about violence. Therefore, MUI continues to urge the public to prevent radicalism, because there is no such thing as a justification for violence. Radical groups are very dangerous because they teach the community the way of violence and coercion.

To prevent radicalism and terrorism, the community can do several ways. First, by sweeping in the WA group. Because that’s where a lot of hoaxes and propaganda spread about radicalism. Do not let radical groups even be considered as heroes for opposing the government. In fact, they are at fault because they clearly violate the law in Indonesia.

This hoax is very dangerous because there are people who still believe in it, then spread it. They must be educated to distinguish between genuine news and hoaxes. Don’t let hoaxes about radical groups spread and poison people’s minds.

Second, radicalism must be eradicated in cyberspace. Many websites and social media accounts have been created by radical groups. Do not let anyone be affected because of the site. If there is something suspicious, then just report it to the cyber police as the authorized party, so that it will be taken down immediately.

Children and teenagers are also advised to be aware of radicalism in cyberspace. They need to be introduced early on that radicalism is dangerous. Don’t even secretly follow the social media accounts of radical groups and then recruit them.

Prevention of radicalism must be done thoroughly and starts from the family. If children are given education from an early age, of course they will not want to be influenced by radicalism. Be careful when choosing a school because you don’t want the teacher or the head of the foundation to become a member of a radical group.

Society needs to be active in preventing radicalism. Starting with education in the closest family, so that each family member has an understanding of radicalism and they know why it is prohibited. Radicalism is indeed very dangerous, therefore all elements of society are obliged to prevent it so that this understanding does not spread in Indonesia.
