The government continues to improve the quality of Papuan Indigenous Human Resources (HR) through various training and education. With this quality improvement, OAP is expected to be more competitive and able to advance Papua within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Papua is a very potential area because it is blessed with natural wealth and mining products. Therefore, to advance the Earth of Cendrawasih, its natural resources need to be reprocessed. In addition to natural resources, the quality of human resources also needs to be improved, because Papuans process natural products and market them.
To improve the quality of OAP human resources, the government through the Jayapura City Manpower Office held various trainings, including how to cut hair. This event was very well received by the local community because they could add new skills as capital to be independent and open their own barbershop.
The chairman of Commission D of the Jayapura City DPRD, Stanis Hike, stated that the program carried out by the Manpower Office was in favor of indigenous Papuan children. The DPRD fully supports trainings like this because they can improve the people’s economy and open up new jobs.
The training held by the Jayapura City Manpower Office was very welcomed by the residents because the participants were indigenous Papuans. Local governments show concern for OAP and want them to be more financially well off. Learning is not only in school but also through training, which will improve the quality of Papuan human resources.
Entrepreneurship training is good because if there is 1 Papuan who can cut his hair and open his own business, it will automatically need employees. If the business continues to grow, the number of employees will increase. It will reduce the unemployment rate in Papua and help many people to earn a living. In addition, the quality of its human resources has increased and is getting smarter, and more skilled.
The number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is still relatively low (less than 10%) and the Department of Manpower wants an increase in order to increase the number of entrepreneurs. Starting from Papua, East Indonesia will become a region that has many entrepreneurs. That way, the business world in Bumi Cendrawasih will be more dynamic.
The indigenous people of Earth of Cendrawasih have been upgraded and proven themselves that they are actually intelligent and skilled. By continuing to practice and be patient in attending the workshop, you will become more proficient. If you have opened a barbershop, it will be crowded with customers because the results are good. When Papuans are diligent in studying through training, their income also increases.
Specific training for OAP certainly provides many benefits. This is an effort to increase the skills of the citizens of the Earth of Cendrawasih. Thanks to training from the Manpower Office, participants from OAP can become reliable and independent hair cutters.
Learning is not only in school, but also through training. If a workshop held by the Manpower Office is held for indigenous Papuans, then those who have dropped out of school can also attend. Studying until the end of life and thanks to the skills possessed can be a means to support his family.
The government continues to work hard to improve the quality of human resources for indigenous Papuans which is intended to increase skills. With these skills, the welfare of the Papuan people is expected to increase further.
