Jakarta — The government continues to prove its commitment to provide real welfare for all Indonesian people through the 3 Million Homes Program. This ambitious program is designed to ensure that every Indonesian family, especially those with low incomes, has a real opportunity to live in a decent, safe, and affordable home.

Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, said that the housing sector must be the main engine driving the people’s economy. He admitted that there are still challenges, but the government is not sitting idly by. “To be honest, the government is currently pushing for the acceleration of the realization of investment commitments that have been conveyed, as part of the steps to make the housing sector the driving force of the people’s economy. It’s only a commitment. But we are not giving up, because we believe that the housing sector can be a driving force for the people’s economy,” he said optimistically.

Deputy Minister of PKP, Fahri Hamzah, said that fiscal challenges were indeed an initial obstacle, but not a reason to give up. “This program is being optimized by utilizing all existing fiscal instruments, including perfecting the previously existing budget design. But we will use all constitutional and creative means so that this program continues to run,” he explained.

The 3 Million Homes Program is also designed to be financing friendly. The government continues to promote schemes that make it easier for the community, such as the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP), Interest Difference Subsidy (SSB), and Down Payment Assistance Subsidy (SBUM). This financing support allows low-income people to buy houses with light installments and fixed interest. In fact, the digitalization process for KPR applications is now being accelerated to make it more practical, especially for the younger generation and informal workers.

By early 2025, more than 1.2 million housing units have been successfully realized. The government is targeting an additional 500 thousand housing units this year. This number continues to grow along with increasing synergy between ministries, support from the private sector, and active participation of local governments.

This program is not just about bricks and mortar, but about hope and the future. About children who can grow up in decent homes, parents who can live their old age in peace, and families who can build their lives in a safe environment. The 3 Million Homes Program is proof that the state is present among its people, answering the most basic needs with real solutions.

The government invites all elements of the nation to support this program, because when every family has a decent home, we are building the foundation of a more prosperous and equitable future for Indonesia.
