Ahead of the Inauguration of PYCH, BIN Empowers Papuan Youth to Increase Food Security

The inauguration of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building initiated by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is now numbered and all preparations have been carried out carefully. Ahead of the inauguration of this magnificent facility, BIN continues to intensively empower Papuan youths, one of which is to improve community food security.

The younger generation does have a very important role in development, and this is no exception for the younger generation in the Land of Papua. Because the younger generation does have an important role in this development, the Head of the Center for Infrastructure Development Region III RIDA of the PUPR Ministry, Manggas Rudy Siahaan stated that there is a great need for infrastructure that can support the development of innovation and also the creativity of indigenous Papuan youth.

Therefore, as infrastructure capable of supporting this development, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) fully supports the construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) Building, which is also in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Development. Welfare in Papua Province and West Papua Province.

He also stated that the Regional Government (Pemda) also has a role to be able to continue to help optimize all work programs in the context of building and developing infrastructure for these youth groups, mainly regarding institutions.

Manggas Rudy Siahaan hopes that the construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) Building can increase Human Resources (HR) and boost competitiveness and for the realization of Social Justice in Papua Island. According to him, in the future, Papua really depends on the quality of its youth, so it is very important to improve the quality of human resources and also to improve the quality of education that is evenly distributed.

The PYCH building itself will later become a place for PMI to carry out various programs to contribute to the welfare of the Papuan people. They will collaborate with various parties, develop themselves and continue to be the engine of human resource development for young people in Cendrawasih Earth.

Being one of BIN’s efforts to continue to intensify efforts to accelerate the improvement of people’s welfare in Cenderawasih Earth, of course, is to empower the younger generation in the Land of Papua. Then, one of the youth organizations directly fostered by BIN, namely Papua Young Inspiration (PMI), continues to have many programs that will be intensified to encourage people to improve their welfare and food security.

PMI’s success in supporting food security is indicated to have produced results. This is reflected in the farmer groups assisted by BIN and PMI who were able to harvest corn several times, one of which was in the area of ​​Kwadeware Village and Doyo Lama Village, Waibu District, Kab. Jayapura, Papua.

In this case, the harvest was carried out on 7.5 hectares of land with a yield of around 16.1 tons. It is estimated that the next harvest will be carried out again in May 2023. The total available land in Waibu District is 83.64 hectares. At that location, 20.3 hectares of corn have been planted and other land is in the processing process for planting. Previously, harvesters had also been harvested in the Namblong District, Jayapura on a 10 hectare land with a yield of 20 tonnes.

In this case, PMI Kab. Jayapura, Daud Edison Yarisetouw revealed that CV Tripilar Perkasa would buy the crops to be used as chicken feed. Chicken feed products will be packaged with the PYCH label. Of course, these benefits can be enjoyed by PMI members and the surrounding community.

PMI also continues to encourage the public to take chicken farming seriously, where the laying hen farms managed by millennials from PMI are now showing results. Related to this, the Management of PMI, Brigitta Hisage stated that livestock development is one of the many community empowerment programs carried out by her party.

Furthermore, PMI itself also runs many programs in various fields, such as in the fields of education, social, culture, creative industries and also agriculture to animal husbandry. He also admitted that so far there have been many activities carried out under the guidance of BIN.

Brigitta then invited young Papuans to be able to continue to work on every business opportunity, with determination and also strong effort and hard work. He expressed his gratitude to all parties, including the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo and the Head of BIN, Gen. Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan for the continued support.

Meanwhile, Member of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy for Papua (BP3OKP), Pdt. Alberth Yoku highly appreciated the various work programs carried out by PMI as an organization under the guidance of BIN in an effort to improve the welfare of Papua.

According to him, the younger generation is a big force, then the role of PMI which has been mandated by President Jokowi and is under the guidance of BIN, of course, makes the golden generation go forward and is able to accelerate development for the welfare of the Papuan people together and collaboratively.

On another occasion, the Secretary of PMI for the Papua region, Vitha Faidiban stated that the construction of the PYCH building was one of the many facilities provided to young Papuans and the Papuan people by President Jokowi and Head of BIN, Gen. Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan.

Empowerment of the younger generation is very important to be able to achieve accelerated prosperity. This is particularly the case in the Land of Papua, so that the Government of Indonesia and also BIN continue to make efforts to do this empowerment with the many facilities and infrastructure provided, including by providing a lot of training and guidance.
