President Prabowo Subianto’s administration has shown a new face of Indonesian bureaucracy through quick and responsive steps in handling the Enggano Island crisis in Bengkulu. The leadership style that emphasizes speed and collective work has proven effective in solving problems in the field.

Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2025 was issued to ensure the acceleration of development and restoration of connectivity of Indonesia’s outermost island. This approach deserves appreciation as a form of bureaucratic transformation towards modern and adaptive governance.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi assessed that the government’s response to the Enggano issue reflects President Prabowo’s new leadership style which emphasizes quick action and cross-agency coordination.

Prasetyo assessed that the government was ready to respond to the dynamics that suddenly emerged with an early detection system and rapid reaction. Presidential Instruction 12/2025 signed by President Prabowo Subianto showed the government’s commitment to responding to people’s problems without delay. For Prasetyo, such a leadership style is worthy of being called the new face of responsive and measurable bureaucracy.

The government did not wait for problems to pile up, but instead immediately processed solutions with the Indonesian House of Representatives. Intensive communication between the government and the legislature also accelerated the achievement of agreements and strategic decision-making. This situation created great public trust in the central government.

Prasetyo added that his experience serving in the Indonesian House of Representatives helped him establish more effective communication with the current House leaders. This makes it easier for the government to find solutions to major problems such as the isolation of Enggano Island.

Coordination between the government and the DPR went smoothly, allowing concrete solutions in the field to be realized in a short time. The shallowing of the Pulau Baai Port channel that occurred in the last three months was immediately responded to by the government as soon as it emerged in the last three months.

As a result, residents were isolated because large ships could not enter or exit the docks. This condition caused serious economic and social impacts that have now been successfully suppressed through quick and coordinated government steps.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad emphasized that the House of Representatives continues to monitor the implementation of the Presidential Instruction. Dasco appreciated President Prabowo’s move to issue the Presidential Instruction as a manifestation of the government’s real commitment to the people in the outermost regions.

According to Dasco, the people of Enggano Island have long faced infrastructure obstacles that require quick and structured solutions. Dasco asked all parties to abandon the habit of blaming each other and start focusing on real work to solve the problem.

The DPR is committed to overseeing the implementation of the Presidential Instruction until it is complete so that the residents of Enggano Island can regain their basic rights, especially access to logistics and food distribution for the survival of the local community.

In addition, Dasco reminded that the government’s success in handling the problems on Enggano Island is important evidence that a fast and responsive leadership style is not only needed in strategic areas, but also in the outermost regions that have so far been marginalized.

The government hopes that the implementation of the Presidential Instruction can restore access to logistics distribution, revive the economy, and restore the quality of life of Enggano residents as a whole. This success can be a model for handling crises in other regions in the future.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) demonstrated its alertness by deploying the Orca 05 surveillance ship to transport 28 residents of Enggano Island to Bengkulu City.

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono received a report from the Captain of KP Orca 05 Sutisna Wijaya that the ship had arrived in Bengkulu safely on Thursday morning after a 12-hour journey from Enggano.

The deployment of the ship is a follow-up to Minister Trenggono’s meeting with the Governor of Bengkulu at the end of June. According to Minister Trenggono, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is ready to deploy ships to help mobilize residents to the city while supporting the development of the coast and outermost regions of Indonesia.

The government’s strategic steps, from issuing Presidential Instructions to deploying surveillance ships, emphasize that the bureaucratic style in the era of President Prabowo Subianto prioritizes siding with the people and being responsive to problems.

There is no more delay in formulating policies, all ministries and institutions move together with one goal: to solve community problems as quickly as possible. The synergy between the central government, the Indonesian House of Representatives, and local governments is an important capital in accelerating the development of Enggano Island and opening the island’s isolation from backwardness.

The shallowing of the port not only closes access for ferry ships to enter and exit, but also cuts off food distribution, hampers health services, and reduces the quality of life of residents.

Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2025 is present as concrete evidence of a fast and responsive leadership style. The Enggano community can finally regain hope to revive their economy and improve the standard of living of their families.

Seeing these concrete steps, the public deserves to give high appreciation to the government of President Prabowo Subianto who dared to change the face of the bureaucracy to be more agile and oriented towards the interests of the people.

The government has successfully proven that the new style of fast and responsive leadership is not just a campaign slogan, but a real policy that touches the people to the outermost islands of Indonesia, presenting a better future for all citizens. (*)
