Appreciating the Successful, Safe and Peaceful Implementation of PSU: The Importance of Accepting Voting Results

The implementation of the Re-vote (PSU) in a number of regions in Indonesia also reflects the collective success of the entire community in maintaining the dignity of democracy in this country.
One of the most prominent portraits comes from Pesawaran Regency which successfully held the PSU safely, orderly, and with full political maturity. This process not only shows the maturity of the voters, but also emphasizes how important it is to always respect whatever and however the final results of the election that have been officially determined as part of a form of democratic responsibility.
Regarding the implementation of the PSU, Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika expressed his high appreciation for the participation of all people in various regions, especially in Pesawaran Regency in the implementation of the PSU which took place on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
With 759 Polling Stations (TPS) spread across 148 villages, the entire community has shown extraordinary discipline and calm during the PSU process. The Regional Police Chief assessed the success as one of the important foundations in maintaining regional stability.
The police have a strong commitment to maintaining the neutrality and professionalism of all its ranks during all stages of the PSU. Helmy emphasized that the neutrality of security forces is a non-negotiable principle, part of an effort to ensure that the democratic process is honest and fair. According to him, the success of the PSU is not only reflected in the smoothness of the technical aspects, but also in maintaining public trust in the organizers and security forces.
The Lampung Police not only focused on security during the voting, but also continued to monitor the next stages until the final results were determined. For Helmy, the continuity of security after the voting was crucial so that the public would not get caught up in provocative narratives or unilateral claims of victory. He viewed that the active role of all elements of society in maintaining a peaceful situation was the main key to strengthening the local democratic order.
The implementation of PSU in various regions is indeed a test of integrity, not only for election organizers, but also for all citizens. In Palopo City, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Sulawesi Province also appreciated the orderly, transparent, and democratic implementation of PSU. Bawaslu member Saiful Jihad highlighted the hard work of all parties, from organizers to the community, who have helped ensure that the PSU runs peacefully.
Menurut Saiful, keberhasilan PSU di Palopo menunjukkan bagaimana demokrasi tidak sekadar menjadi rutinitas lima tahunan, melainkan sarana perwujudan kedaulatan rakyat secara substantif.
Ia menekankan bahwa partisipasi aktif masyarakat menjadi elemen sentral yang menentukan kualitas pemilu. Bagi Bawaslu, kerja pengawasan tidak berhenti pada hari pemungutan, tetapi terus berlanjut hingga semua tahapan dituntaskan demi menjamin transparansi dan akuntabilitas proses.
Di tingkat nasional, Komisi Pemilihan Umum Republik Indonesia (KPU RI) mengambil pelajaran penting dari pelaksanaan PSU di sebelas daerah. Anggota KPU Iffa Rosita menilai PSU sebagai refleksi konsolidasi demokrasi yang sedang tumbuh dan terus diperkuat.
Ia mendorong semua pasangan calon dan pendukungnya untuk menerima hasil PSU dengan jiwa besar. Bagi Iffa, sikap legawa terhadap hasil pemilihan menjadi ukuran kedewasaan berpolitik sekaligus wujud kepercayaan terhadap proses penyelenggaraan pemilu.
Iffa juga menekankan pentingnya kehati-hatian dan integritas dalam proses rekapitulasi suara. Ia mengingatkan agar setiap daerah penyelenggara PSU, termasuk Kabupaten Serang yang juga menggelar pemilihan ulang, menghindari tindakan gegabah yang dapat berujung pada sengketa hukum.
Dalam pengamatan KPU, tujuh dari sebelas daerah penyelenggara PSU kembali mengajukan gugatan ke Mahkamah Konstitusi. Hal tersebut menjadi catatan penting bagi penyelenggara untuk menjaga kredibilitas dan transparansi agar hasil akhir tidak menjadi pemicu konflik lanjutan.
KPU melihat bahwa penyelenggaraan PSU secara aman dan damai tidak hanya memberi legitimasi pada hasil yang diperoleh, tetapi juga memperkuat kepercayaan publik terhadap demokrasi.
Ketika seluruh pihak bersedia menerima hasil pemungutan suara secara lapang dada, maka proses demokrasi telah menjalankan fungsinya secara utuh—yakni memilih pemimpin melalui mekanisme yang adil, terbuka, dan bermartabat.
Keberhasilan pelaksanaan PSU di Pesawaran, Palopo, hingga Serang menjadi gambaran bahwa demokrasi Indonesia memiliki ketahanan yang kuat, sepanjang seluruh elemen masyarakat mampu bersikap dewasa dan menjunjung tinggi etika politik.
Ketika semua pihak menunjukkan kematangan dalam menyikapi hasil pemungutan suara, maka pemilu tidak menjadi sumber perpecahan, melainkan sarana membangun masa depan bersama.
Dalam konteks tersebut, apresiasi setinggi-tingginya patut diberikan kepada masyarakat, penyelenggara pemilu, aparat keamanan, dan semua pihak yang telah bekerja dengan dedikasi penuh untuk memastikan PSU berjalan sesuai harapan. Demokrasi yang sehat tidak hanya dinilai dari seberapa banyak suara yang terkumpul, tetapi dari bagaimana hasilnya diterima dengan penuh tanggung jawab.
Accepting the results of the PSU is not a sign of defeat or victory alone, but rather part of the manifestation of collective maturity in democratic life. In a process like this, the true meaning of the election as an instrument of legitimacy of power can truly be felt, not only by participants, but by all the people who are the owners of the highest sovereignty in a democratic country.
