Appreciation of Community Participation in the Implementation of PSU in Various Regions
Jakarta – The re-vote (PSU) held in several regions of Indonesia in 2025 showed high enthusiasm from the public to ensure that the democratic process runs transparently and with quality. The involvement of citizens in this PSU is seen as a form of active participation in maintaining the integrity of the election and strengthening the legitimacy of legitimate results.
The Head of the Pasaman KPU, West Sumatra, Taufiq in Lubuk Sikaping, stated that the implementation of the PSU was part of a corrective mechanism in the democratic system that must be carried out professionally. The Pasaman Regency KPU recorded that 143,049 voters came to the TPS to use their voting rights in the PSU on April 19, 2025. This figure shows that the level of public participation in the PSU for the Pasaman Pilkada was very high, exceeding the target of 60 percent.
“From the data we have collected which is final, 143,049 voters used their voting rights with a percentage of 65.19 percent voter participation from 218,980 DPT in the 2024 Pasaman Pilkada PSU,” explained Taufiq.
Elsewhere, Member of the East Kalimantan Provincial DPRD, Salehuddin, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the PSU in Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) which went well, peacefully, and democratically. He considered that the implementation should be an example, considering the existing challenges such as flood conditions that had caused the relocation of Polling Stations (TPS).
“We express our appreciation for the implementation of the PSU in Kukar which took place safely and peacefully. This should be an example, especially in the midst of flood conditions that had forced the relocation of several TPS, but it could still be carried out in an orderly and transparent manner,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri), Ribka Haluk emphasized that his party is fully committed to supporting the smooth and successful implementation of the Pilkada PSU. This is a form of government commitment in ensuring that every stage of democracy runs well, transparently, and meets the principles of justice for all people in the relevant region.
“PSU is a form of government commitment in ensuring that every stage of democracy runs well, transparently, and fairly for all people. Therefore, all related parties are asked to ensure that there are no obstacles that hinder the process,” he said.
Public participation in the PSU is a reflection of the political maturity of citizens. With active support from the community, local government, and organizers, the PSU can run safely, orderly, and produce legitimate and quality leadership. This is a real example that the implementation of Indonesian democracy is increasingly mature.
