Jakarta – The government through the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) gives high appreciation to the community for their active participation in helping to eradicate drug abuse and illicit trafficking in various regions in Indonesia. Public participation is considered to be one of the important keys in supporting the success of the national program for the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN).

Recently, the East Java Province National Narcotics Agency (BNNP Jatim) carried out an activity to destroy evidence of narcotics in the form of crystal methamphetamine weighing 6,869.096 grams and 10,608.417 grams of marijuana in Pamekasan Regency.

The evidence that was destroyed was the result of uncovering a case of illegal drug trafficking in four districts in the East Java region, namely Sampang, Lamongan, Malang, and Gresik in the period of May 2025.

The destruction of narcotics evidence was led directly by the Head of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency Marthinus Hukom, Acting Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak, and Pamekasan Regent Kholilurrahman.

Head of BNN RI Marthinus Hukom said the threat of drug dangers continues to lurk in East Java. This is proven by the attempted drug smuggling on Masalembu Island, Sumenep some time ago.

“The waters are often the entry point for drug trafficking, so they must be guarded tightly and carefully,” he said.

The drug problem is a global challenge with wide and complex impacts. Its impact is not only on the individuals who are addicted, but also on the society that must bear the burden of illicit trafficking, and the organized crime that accompanies it.

Marthinus Hukom expressed his gratitude for the support from the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) in combating the dangers of narcotics, especially in preparing policy instruments contained in the Governor’s Regulation (Pergub) and its derivative regulations.

“The dangers of drugs have a damaging impact and quality of life for the nation’s generation. The negative impact of using these illicit goods can result in people being lied to to sell and market drug products,” he added.

Marthinus Hukom emphasized that handling the drug problem is not only the task of law enforcement officers, but is the collective responsibility of all components of the nation. For that, it requires awareness from all parties in society to fight the dealers who profit from the suffering of the community.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak conveyed the provincial government’s commitment to eradicating drugs as reflected in various policies and regulations.

“One of these regulations is the East Java Provincial Regulation Number 10 of 2022 concerning Facilitation of Prevention and Eradication of Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics and Narcotics Precursors,” said Emil.

Then, East Java Governor Regulation Number 49 of 2023, and Governor’s Decree Number 188/107/KPTS/013/2022 which established the Integrated Team for the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse in 2022–2024.

Emil Elestianto Dardak appreciated the active role of Madurese citizens as evidenced by the disclosure of the case. The success of eradicating drugs requires the participation of all parties.

Through strong collaboration between the government and society, it is hoped that Indonesia can get closer to its great ideal: a golden generation that is clean from drugs.
