“Parliament is ready to play its role as an institution that represents the people to take action to resolve water problems at the national and international level,” he stressed.

He said that so far the parliament’s commitment to the water agenda is certainly very strong.

This is because water issues continue to be a priority for parliament both domestically and through diplomacy between world parliaments.

Therefore, the government and parliament have the same responsibility, namely changing conditions of water scarcity into water security.

“Parliament’s commitment to the water agenda is very strong, water issues will be a priority for parliament at home and through parliamentary diplomacy,” said Puan.

“The government and parliament have the same responsibility to transform conditions of water scarcity into water security, and make water a source of international cooperation,” he added.

He then invited all parties to increase their efforts so that the world’s right to clean water can be fulfilled.

“I invite, let’s double our joint efforts so that everyone’s right to clean water can be fulfilled and parliament is ready to be part of this joint action,” invited the Chairman of the DPR RI.

On this occasion, Puan Maharani also stated that currently there are many world challenges.

There have been various kinds of disasters, which are also caused by poor water management.

Even though the threat is right in front of our eyes, the Chairman of the DPR RI mentioned that it turns out that not many parties are still aware.

“However, the attention of the international community is currently more focused on geopolitical issues, power competition and economic competition, not on the issue of water security,” he said.
