Jakarta – The 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference, held in Indonesia from May 12 to 15, 2025, is attended by delegates from various OIC countries and observer states.

In her speech at the Cultural Dinner for PUIC 2025 Delegates on Sunday (May 11), the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expressed that Indonesia, as the host of the 19th PUIC, feels honored to welcome delegates from various friendly nations. She emphasized that as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia is proud to host the strategically significant PUIC conference.

“It is a great honor for me to welcome you all at the National Museum of Indonesia tonight. As we gather in this iconic institution, surrounded by the rich history and culture of our nation, I am reminded of the strength of diversity and the importance of cultural exchange,” said Puan.

Puan stated that the PUIC Conference is essential for fostering cooperation and collaboration between nations. She highlighted that the House of Representatives has a significant responsibility to help shape the nation’s future, especially in facing current challenges.

Furthermore, Puan also touched on the importance of advocating for peace and harmony between nations. On this occasion, she invited the delegates to take advantage of the PUIC conference as a platform for mutual learning and strengthening friendships among nations, especially since this event in Indonesia coincides with the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of the establishment of PUIC in 1999.

“Let us work together to advance peace, prosperity, and progress for all of humanity,” Puan urged.

Earlier, the Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, conveyed that the presence of delegates reflects PUIC’s commitment to continue making active contributions in international forums and strengthening cooperation among OIC member states.

This conference marks the 19th PUIC event and is particularly special as it coincides with the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of PUIC, which was first held in 1999.

Carrying the theme “PUIC Silver Jubilee – Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience,” this theme serves as a fundamental foundation throughout the 19th PUIC conference. It reflects the commitment of OIC member states to strengthen national and collective resilience through transparent, participatory, and accountable governance.
