Bali – Support for the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali so that it can take place successfully and smoothly comes from various parties. The mass media, especially journalists, are part of the support for organizing the 10th WWF.

Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) for Education, Arief Wibisono, said that the press as a bridge to information has a role in the 10th WWF activities.

“The main task of journalists is to play a role in WWF activities. “Journalists participate according to our field, namely providing positive information for the community,” said Arief at the Declaration of Support for Bali Journalists in Making the 10th WWF a Success, in Bali.

Information packaged in the form of news, said Arief, is not only presented to the Indonesian people, but also to the world. For this reason, during the 10th WWF activities, journalists must provide positive enlightenment in the form of news information related to the 10th WWF.

Arief added, there are many ways for journalists to report news. He gave an example, journalists can cover activities during WWF at the WWF venue or coverage outside the 10th WWF venue.

“You can cover how the environment is managed in Bali, especially regarding water so that pollution does not occur,” he said.

Another example, said Arief, is that journalists can also highlight Subak. Subak, which is a traditional Balinese irrigation system, regulates rice farming in Bali. Subak is water management through a local wisdom approach.

“Subak could be an example for other provinces or countries in water management. Because of the Subak philosophy, the order of life in the agricultural sector in sustainable water management is maintained by traditional villages, especially traditional villages in Bali. I think Subak could be the first step in water management in the future. “Maybe it can be imitated by other countries, what philosophy is contained in Subak,” he explained.

According to Arief, if all the positive news about the 10th WWF and the success of the event can be conveyed well to the Indonesian people and countries attending the WWF event, then the good image of Indonesia, especially Bali as the host of the event, will be raised well.

“Of course this will have an impact on our country, Bali in particular. Whether in the tourism sector or others. “Where Bali will be better known abroad,” he said.
