Beware of Calls for Demonstrations Against the Postponement of CASN 2024

JAKARTA — The public should exercise caution in responding to calls for demonstrations against the postponement of the 2024 Prospective Civil Servants (CASN) appointment. Instead of providing solutions, such actions could create unrest and disrupt efforts to improve the ASN recruitment process.
Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR), Dede Yusuf, emphasized that Commission II hopes the appointment of CPNS (Civil Servant Candidates) can proceed according to an optimal schedule. He noted that the government must still consider administrative readiness and applicable regulations to ensure a smooth recruitment process.
“We in Commission II of the DPR encourage that the appointment of CPNS and PPPK (Government Employees with Work Agreements) for the 2024 formation should not have to wait until the final deadline. If possible, this process should be expedited while still adhering to existing mechanisms,” said Dede.
Similarly, Member of Commission II DPR from the Golkar Party faction, Taufan Pawe, explained that the deadlines of October 2025 for CPNS and March 2026 for PPPK are not meant as simultaneous schedules but as final deadlines that should not be used as an excuse for further delays.
“We support the government’s efforts to ensure the CASN appointment process runs according to procedure. If there is an opportunity to accelerate it, then it should be utilized optimally without violating regulations,” Taufan stated firmly.
Furthermore, he explained that in a Hearing Meeting on March 5, 2025, the DPR emphasized the importance of a smooth CASN recruitment process to prevent uncertainty among prospective ASN. Currently, the submission of the Personal History Form (DRH) for PPPK has been completed, and the process of proposing Employee Identification Numbers (NIP) will soon take place.
The public is urged to remain calm and not be provoked by calls for demonstrations that could escalate tensions. The government and DPR continue to seek the best solutions to ensure the CASN appointment is carried out in the interests of all parties.
Demonstrations without concrete solutions will only complicate the situation and potentially hinder the acceleration of CPNS and PPPK appointments. Therefore, effective communication between policymakers and the public is essential to ensure a smooth recruitment process and provide certainty for all prospective ASN.
