Beware of Provocations, ‘Indonesia Gelap’ Actions Only Aggravate National Situation

JAKARTA – The mass action under the banner of “Indonesia Gelap,” continually voiced by certain parties, has the potential to provoke national instability.

The public is urged not to be easily provoked, considering that conditions in various sectors remain conducive.

Economic activities are running normally, shopping malls are busy, and the purchasing power of the people remains intact.

In this regard, Head of Presidential Communications Hasan Nasbi revealed the message that President Prabowo has conveyed to students, stating that the public service sector will not be impacted by budget efficiency measures.

“And he also emphasized to friends from the campus that the president is firm—there will be no reductions in operational costs for universities, KIP Kuliah, or scholarships,” said Hasan Nasbi.

Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati also dispelled rumors suggesting the termination of honorarium workers due to budget efficiency measures.

In a press conference at the DPR RI Building, she stressed that no honorarium workers would be laid off in ministries and agencies.

“We assure you that the efficiency measures or restructuring of ministry/agency budgets will not affect honorarium workers,” Sri Mulyani stated.

The government is also conducting further research to ensure that the efficiency does not disrupt public services, in line with Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2025.

On the other hand, economic data indicates that inflation remains controlled within the range of 1.5% to 3.5%, which does not significantly affect the purchasing power of the people.

Ramadhan Wafid Mustafa, Senior Statistician from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Nunukan, emphasized that stable inflation is a sign of a healthy economy.

“So, theoretically, inflation impacts purchasing power. However, inflation that is controlled, meaning within the range of 1.5 – 3.5, does not significantly affect purchasing power,” he explained.

On the ground, facts show that music concerts are still packed, shopping centers are full, and economic activities continue as usual.

Therefore, the “Indonesia Gelap” action is considered not to reflect the real situation in society and may, in fact, worsen the national situation.

The public is urged not to be influenced by calls that could disrupt the stability of the country.
