JAKARTA — The World Water Forum (WWF) or the 10th World Water Forum which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024 is believed to be able to produce policies that have a direct impact on society in the countries participating in the forum and also have an impact on the economy in Bali region. Because the forum with the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity” will bring many participants from various countries.

Special Staff to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing for Water Resources Management, Firdaus Ali, emphasized that the 10th WWF is targeted to involve as many as 50 thousand participants.

“Then for Indonesia, especially Bali, every tourist who comes provides an opportunity. “They spend and so on,” he said.

Firdaus also added that Indonesia emphasizes the important role of water in the lives of all living creatures. Considering various global water challenges such as scarcity, pollution and natural disasters due to climate change, Indonesia wants to make water a source of prosperity and peace, not conflict.

“We agree that the forum in Bali will be a monumental meeting to transform all policies to meet the future so that water becomes a source of life, growth and peace, and not a source of disaster,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of BMKG who is also Responsible for Programs and Sessions of the 10th National Committee for Organizing WWF, Dwikorita Karnawati, said that discussions in this forum were related to climate, water, food, energy and health. Of course, this thematic will be integrated with political discussions so that it becomes a strategic policy in each country.

“The results of scientific discussions are explained, detailed, integrated with political discussions so that scientific thinking can be implemented in society, so it is hoped that the output from this discussion will be more easily implemented into the policies of each participating country,” said Dwikorita.

It was added that Indonesia as the host was also encouraging the establishment of a Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience.

“Indonesia will coordinate the Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience. So, alliances from those that already exist in Asia Pacific or in the world will coordinate with Indonesia. “This is one of the goals, the results that will be obtained,” he concluded.
