Civil Servants Monitor the Success of MBG for Millions of Indonesian Children

Jakarta – The Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Rini Widyantini, emphasized that the acceleration of Civil Servant (ASN) recruitment for the National Food Agency (BGN) is a crucial step in speeding up the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which is a national priority.
“Fulfilling the ASN needs in the National Food Agency is a strategic step to support the success of the MBG Program,” said Rini.
Rini mentioned that through the establishment and strengthening of BGN, all aspects of the program’s implementation, from food distribution to reporting and evaluation, can be carried out more systematically.
“There are several issues that need to be orchestrated well, particularly in terms of human resources, governance, and the development of digitalization,” Rini continued.
The Ministry of PANRB, according to Rini, has prepared a strategy through the arrangement of positions, recruitment, and effective and efficient redistribution of ASNs so that the BGN can soon function optimally. This effort is also reinforced by mapping business processes and relationships among ministries, agencies, and local governments (K/L/D) to ensure that the program’s implementation does not overlap.
“Two important targets must be achieved: clarity in identifying beneficiaries and good governance to be incorporated into Presidential Instructions (Inpres) and Presidential Regulations (Perpres). Both internal and external governance are very important, starting from policies at the central level to field implementers transparently,” she emphasized.
Rini also highlighted the need to build a digital government architecture that supports business processes, human resource management, and integrated public services to support MBG. This includes a beneficiary data information system, real-time reporting, and a reliable monitoring system.
The government projects that this program, which targets 82.9 million beneficiaries, will not only have an impact on reducing stunting rates but will also improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources and drive national economic growth through job creation in the nutritious food and logistics sectors.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, in the same meeting, also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making MBG the foundation for Indonesia’s vision of 2045. He stated that the MBG Presidential Regulation (Perpres) will later regulate five important aspects: monitoring and evaluation, reporting, coordination teams, the role of local governments, and funding.
“In conclusion, we decided that a team from the relevant ministries will prepare materials for the Presidential Regulation or Instruction. This needs to be done immediately,” said Zulkifli.
Through the accelerated ASN recruitment and the readiness of the institutional structure of BGN, it is hoped that the MBG Program can be immediately implemented on a large scale and reach its intended beneficiaries throughout Indonesia.
