The war on drugs in Indonesia has become a top priority for the government and law enforcement. This commitment is reflected in various policies, operations, and international cooperation aimed at eradicating the circulation of narcotics that damage the younger generation and threaten national security. Through institutions and ministries, the government continues to be firmly committed to eradicating drug trafficking. This commitment certainly needs to be supported by all elements of society.

President Prabowo Subianto expressed his determination to fight drugs to the roots. In a bilateral meeting with the President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, at the Peruvian Palace, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of international cooperation in overcoming drug trafficking. Indonesia and Peru agreed to create a Pacific region free from the influence of drugs, which shows Indonesia’s commitment to eradicating drugs not only domestically, but also globally.

Through various related institutions, such as the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), TNI, Polri, and other ministries, the government is committed to supervising and taking action against national and international drug syndicate networks. Strict law enforcement not only targets big dealers, but also small-scale drug trafficking in various regions

Domestically, the government has launched the Asta Cita program which aims to create a drug-free Indonesia. The Commander of the Task Force (Dansatgas) for the Prevention, Monitoring, and Enforcement of Violations by TNI Soldiers/PNS in the form of online gambling, drugs, smuggling, and corruption, Inspector General TNI, Lieutenant General TNI Muhammad Saleh Mustafa said that his party remains committed to eradicating drug trafficking in accordance with the Asta Cita program of the Prabowo-Gibran government.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said that his party continues to optimize law enforcement efforts against drugs that are widely circulated. Strict action against drugs is expected to reduce the negative impacts caused, especially for the younger generation of the nation’s successors.

The government has shown a strong commitment to tightening supervision at the country’s borders, including seaports and international airports, which are often used as drug smuggling routes. This effort is supported by the addition of modern technology and an increase in the number of personnel at the border, which has succeeded in thwarting several major smuggling attempts in recent years.

Director General of Corrections of Kemenimipas, Brigadier General of Police Drs. Mashudi, invited the younger generation to play an active role in preventing and eradicating drugs. He emphasized that all elements of society must be involved in this effort, not just law enforcement officers. The community, including the younger generation who are vulnerable to drug abuse, are expected to play an important role. In this regard, Kemenimipas continues to strive to tighten access in and out of Indonesia to minimize drug smuggling.

As part of a comprehensive strategy, the government is also strengthening rehabilitation services for drug addicts. Rehabilitation is carried out in an integrated manner, including medical services, psychological counseling, and skills training to support their social reintegration. This approach aims to provide a more humane solution for victims of drug abuse, by helping them rise from their dark past and return to society as productive individuals.

NTB Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Hadi Gunawan, emphasized the police’s support for the government’s efforts to eradicate drugs. According to him, the success of eradicating drugs requires the active role of the community, especially families. He invited families to increase supervision and communication, so that family members, especially children and adolescents, are protected from the dangers of drug abuse.

On the other hand, the Head of the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNN RI), Police Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom said that his party greatly appreciated the Government’s commitment to eradicating drugs, which is a positive step in efforts to overcome the drug problem in Indonesia. This also emphasizes that the war against drugs is not only the task of the central government, but also requires the active involvement of local governments. The appreciation given by Marthinus shows that BNN is aware of the importance of synergy between state institutions and local governments in facing the major challenges posed by drug trafficking.

This commitment is emphasized through strategic policies that emphasize cross-sector collaboration. Periodic supervision is carried out to ensure that each policy runs according to plan and has a real impact on society.

Efforts to eradicate drugs as a long-term struggle require cooperation from all elements of the nation. With strong support from the government through the implementation of Asta Cita and actively involved by the community, Indonesia is expected to realize the vision of becoming a country free from the threat of drugs.

The Indonesian government’s commitment to combating drugs can be seen from various initiatives and cooperation carried out, both at the national and international levels. Law enforcement officers continue to try to uncover and eradicate drug networks, while the government shows flexibility and a humanist approach in enforcing drug laws. International cooperation is also strengthened to face the challenges of cross-border drug trafficking. With synergy between the government, law enforcement officers, and the community, it is hoped that Indonesia can achieve the goal of becoming a country free from drugs.
