Jakarta – Danantara Indonesia’s strategic move to join the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) has received strong support from the Australian Government. This support is considered to open up opportunities for broader investment cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, especially in financing strategic projects that support national economic growth.

Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Roeslani welcomed the support, while emphasizing the importance of Indonesia’s membership in the international forum that accommodates various sovereign wealth funds from around the world.

“We appreciate the Australian government’s support for Danantara. Membership in the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds can facilitate a strategic partnership with Future Fund Australia,” Rosan said.

According to Rosan, the collaboration between Danantara and Future Fund Australia has great potential to encourage the realization of financing for various national priority projects, ranging from green infrastructure development, renewable energy, to digital transformation.

“We believe that partnerships with global investment institutions such as Future Fund will open up new opportunities for financing strategic projects that drive Indonesia’s economic growth,” he said.

As a strategic investment fund management institution established by the Indonesian government, Danantara Indonesia has since the beginning stated its commitment to being a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic development.

“Danantara Indonesia is always committed to being a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic development, and continues to be open to cooperation with global partners in realizing a more advanced future for Indonesia,” explained Rosan.

Support for Danantara’s move also came directly from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese who is currently on a state visit to Indonesia. In his statement, PM Albanese emphasized that close economic cooperation between the two countries is an important foundation in an increasingly strong bilateral relationship.

“Our two great countries continue to invest in each other through strong trading relationships, creating economic opportunities and strengthening the bonds between us,” Albanese said.

He also expressed his pride in the long-standing friendship between Indonesia and Australia.

“I look forward to working closely with President Prabowo Subianto on our countries’ shared priorities,” he continued.

PM Albanese’s visit this time is also an important momentum for strengthening strategic relations between Indonesia and Australia, especially in the Indo-Pacific region. This was conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Haryo Limanseto.

“Through the visit, the two countries highlighted the importance of strengthening strategic relations between Indonesia and Australia in the Indo-Pacific region,” he said.

According to Haryo, the visit of the Australian PM is the initial round of a series of official meetings that will take place from 14 to 16 May 2025. The agenda includes bilateral meetings and tete-a-tete meetings between the two heads of government and their respective countries’ delegations.

Danantara’s strategic move to network in international forums such as IFSWF not only strengthens Indonesia’s position in the global investment ecosystem, but also opens up space for synergy between countries in driving the sustainable development agenda. The collaboration between Danantara and Future Fund is expected to be a concrete example of cross-country collaboration that is mutually beneficial.

With membership in IFSWF and strong support from strategic partners such as Australia, Danantara Indonesia is believed to be able to play a central role as a trusted investment partner in various priority national development programs. –
