Jakarta – During the momentum of International Labor Day, leaders of labor unions and confederations held a meeting with a number of state officials. Present at the meeting were KSPSI General Chairman Jumhur Hidayat, KSPI President Said Iqbal, KSPSI President Andi Gani, and KSBSI Chair Elly Rosita Silaban.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in his speech expressed his gratitude for the togetherness of the labor union leaders who attended the gathering. He stated that one of the roles of the House of Representatives is to bridge aspirations, and this meeting aims to unite the voices of workers and the government to remain united.

Dasco emphasized that workers, the government, and the DPR need to remain united to face the existing global economic challenges.

“We must have the same determination, that whatever threatens the sustainability of the economy and the life of the country, laborers, workers, and the government must unite to face it, so that Indonesia can be brighter,” said Dasco.

He also stated that Indonesia has very good prospects in the future thanks to its natural wealth and human resources which actually have great potential.

Dasco also emphasized President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to increase workers’ wages by 10 percent in the near future.

“We pray that workers’ wages can be raised gradually, and in the near future, the increase can reach 10 percent. This is expected to drive our economic growth,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH. Marsudi Syuhud, expressed his views regarding the pessimistic narrative circulating.

“Pessimistic narratives such as ‘dark Indonesia’ emerge when people’s expectations are not in line with reality, especially when facing economic pressures or declining incomes,” said Marsudi.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between expectations and reality in managing limited resources.

Marsudi also highlighted the importance of optimism in building the country.

“This approach is in line with religious teachings that emphasize the importance of building with a spirit of optimism and togetherness, not with fear or blaming each other,” he said.

He added that criticism must be conveyed openly and responsibly so as not to cause division, but to create a shared spirit to build the nation.

Marsudi emphasized that the public should not be easily provoked by negative narratives, but rather to see the opportunities and efforts that the government has made in maintaining the smooth running of national development.
